Amman, Jordan 15 September 2018: A delegation from DIHAD headed by Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of DIHAD Conference and Exhibition visited Tkiyet Um Ali in Amman, Jordan, where they were received by the board members and Director General of Tikyet Um Ali.
DIHAD delegation was briefed on the organization’s various efforts in maintaining a sustainable food aid program. Tkiyet Um Ali provides sustainable food aid to 30,000 endorsed families living below the food poverty line in all provinces and governorates across the Kingdom. During its visit, INDEX Holding has sponsored and contributed to distribute free meals to hundreds of orphans and those who are in need.
Commenting on the visit, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of DIHAD, said: “It was an honor for us to visit Tkiyet Um Ali in Amman, Jordan where we were briefed on the great efforts excreted by this unique organization to provide sustainable food support, through the distribution of food parcels to families below the food poverty line in all provinces and governorates across the Kingdom. I would like to seize the opportunity to deeply thank UN Messenger of Peace and Chairperson of International Humanitarian City, HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, for establishing such a humanitarian organization in 2003. I would also like to thank the board of members of Tkiyet Um Ali, the directors, and the volunteers for their hospitality of DIHAD delegation.”
From his side, Mr. Samer Balqer, Director General of Tikyet Um Ali said: “We were very pleasured with DIHAD delegation’s visit to Tikyet Um Ali and their initiative in sponsoring the food program and distributing the food by themselves to people in need.”
He went on saying: “We are also proud to be part of DIHAD conference and exhibition for the past 10 years and for working hand in hand with INDEX Holding and supporting them in their good deeds.”
Tkiyet Um Ali seeks to serve as a model for hunger and relief initiatives across the rest of the Arab world. It is considered to be the first NGO in Jordan to serve hot meals and provide humanitarian aid on daily basis to the poor and needy from the Jordanian society in all locations. The households receive food parcel on monthly basis and throughout the year, the parcel includes 22 commodities enough to prepare three meals on daily basis throughout the month.
DIHAD is an annual international aid & development conference and exhibition held in Dubai under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates, Ruler of Dubai.
Established in 2004, DIHAD serves as the Middle East’s first humanitarian aid and development event.
