The commencement speeches of AURAK President, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, and Valedictorian, Ms. Aisha El Allam, were all braided together with a common thread for the students: change the world. Professor Hassan initiated the weaving with his hopeful expectations, “Every one of you is about to set out to make your very own mark on the world and to change it in ways that we could never have imagined.” Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi continued in challenging the students, “We need you, our successors, to continue what we started; to build, to create, to invent, to discover, to push boundaries further…” Ms. Aisha El Allam then tied a ribbon around the message by offering her peers advice, “Don’t be afraid to change the world.”
The Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success, Professor Stephen Wilhite, then presented the graduates to President Hassan, and His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qassimi awarded the 159 graduates with their degrees, 122 bachelor’s degrees and 37 master’s.
