Bring thousands of memories to life with Epson’s latest EcoTank photo printers

The latest additions to Epson’s cartridge-free EcoTank range are compact but have enough ink to print up to 1,500 high-quality photos right out of the box

Dubai, UAE; November 6, 2018: Epson, a trusted market leader in reliable home and office printing solutions, has launched two new printers as part of its EcoTank range. The EcoTank L7160 and L7180 models boast cartridge-free printing, saving users time and money, as well as enough ink to print up to 1,500[1] exquisitely vivid photos, delivering up to three years of hassle-free printing before needing to change the ink.

“EcoTank offers photo enthusiasts a far more convenient and cost-effective way to print photos of priceless memories in the comfort of their own home.” says Jason Whiley, director of sales, Epson Middle East.

The next-generation L7160 and L7180 models offer cartridge-free printing and an ultra-low cost per page thanks to the high yield inks and ultra-high-capacity ink tank included in the box, allowing users to save up to 90% on the cost of ink, based on comparisons with other units on the market[2]. A new and advanced ink filling system allows for mess-free refills, thanks to innovative ink bottle designs that are easier to open and decant into the printer, and a new mechanism that ensures the right tanks are filled with the corresponding colour.

“Where the ink tank on previous-generation EcoTank models was situated on the side of the unit, the latest units feature front ink tank designs for a more compact and sleek design, making it easier to see how much ink is left in the system too,” says Jason.

Affordable low-cost refill bottles are available across the entire collection and each model is backed by an extended three-year warranty (subject to terms and conditions[3]).

Both models are geared for both colour document and photo printing, with a five-colour ink system that includes black photo ink as well as black pigment ink to produce great results. Other unique features include borderless photo printing for professional-looking prints, and Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct functionality which allow users to print files on the go with the help of the Epson iPrint app[4].

“People are taking a great deal more photos than they used to, and are increasingly acknowledging the need to print and enjoy those memories instead of losing them among thousands of other photos hiding in the cloud or on an old, dusty hard drive,” says Jason. “Both the Epson L7160 and L7180 make it easier to print stunning, high-quality photos in the comfort of your own home, so customers can start filling those photo frames and albums with new memories!”

Environmental Vision 2050

[1]  Quoted yields are extrapolated based on Epson original methodology from the print simulation of Test Patterns provided in ISO/IEC 29103 based on the inks included with this printer and photos printed in a 10×15 cm format. Quoted yields are NOT based on ISO/IEC29102. Quoted yields may vary depending on the images that you are printing, the paper type that you are using, the frequency of your prints and environmental conditions such as temperature. During the initial printer setup, a certain amount of ink is used to fill the print head’s nozzles, therefore the yield of the initial bundled set can be lower.

[2] Average savings achieved printing the same number of pages using the ink bottles included within the EcoTank range, excluding hardware price. Comparison made on the average of the A4 EcoTank range versus the average of the top 10 best-selling models in Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa, in the period April 2017 – March 2018, as tracked by IDC EMEA Hardcopy Tracker (Data Q1 2018), IDC EMEA HCP Consumables Tracker (Data H2 2017). Printing costs calculated on the proportion of Standard and XL cartridges as tracked by IDC for the same reference period for the Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa markets. The average selling price was calculated by dividing the revenue by the units. Ink cartridge yields as communicated by the manufacturer’s websites.
