Managing Director, Teraciel Group
“The brick walls are there to show you how badly you want something.”
Success at a young age is not something everyone is able to tick off their list, however, Ujjwal Goel has already accomplished that and more. Passion is a driving force for Goel and it is his love for both Arts and Science that has inspired him to pursue a career in Real Estate Contracting. As the Managing Director of Teraciel Group at 26 years old, he continues to bring this initiative to all verticals found under the privately held multidisciplinary company.
Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Goel moved to Singapore to complete his last two years of high school before heading to Los Angeles for his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Construction Engineering from the University of Southern California. Whilst completing his undergraduate degree, Ujjwal continued to expand his exposure and knowledge reservoir through International Study Abroad Programs in London for Strategic Management at the London School of Economics; and International Business at the ESADE Business School, Barcelona. After studying in Europe for a year, he later returned to Los Angeles to complete his Bachelors Degree in 2014.
Where many others would enjoy their time off between studies, Goel wasted no time in expanding his work experience. In 2011, the ambitious young man found himself with an opportunity to work at Ernst & Young, where he analyzed company profiles in the telecommunications sector of India, creating a system to monitor daily updates by the DoT and TRAI and provided consulting services to the leading Telecom Companies in India.
In the summer of 2012, Goel joined the family business, La Sorogeeka Associates, a luxury interior design firm focused on custom designed turn-key projects, where he worked on several projects under the guidance of the CEO. A year later, Goel joined Depa Interiors, one of the world’s largest interior contracting firms, where he took over the position as a QA/QC Engineer and worked on impressive regional projects such as the Armani Hotel, Hyatt Hotel (Dubai Healthcare City) and Fairmont The Palm Jumeirah. After working at Depa Interiors, Goel returned to ANCA India, an FFE Manufacturing Company offering bespoke retail and residential furnishings, to test the application of his educational learnings to create business strategies in the Sales and Marketing Division.
Upon moving to Dubai in 2014 to restructure and establish the company in the GCC region, Goel was determined to forge his own legacy, building upon his achievements to continue the expansion of Teraciel Group. From his desire to learn and the knowledge gained from prior work experience, his decision to start the interior fitout company’s international operations was a natural progression for the young entrepreneur. Overlooking the group as a whole, Goel reviews the operations on a strategic level in order to manage the overall growth, business development, compliance and audit committees for the set of businesses found under the umbrella of Teraciel Group.
When asked what is important to him as Managing Director of Teraciel Group, Goel strongly emphasised that family, hard work and determination have been the backbone to his and the company’s success. With his entrepreneurial idealism, he looks to the future with prosperity however never forgetting his humble background and gratitude for past successes.
“Being born in a business family, that started from extremely humble beginnings- the values of discipline, persistence, and ambition were exposed to me at an early age. I am a second-generation entrepreneur- having emerged from obscurity to a reasonable state of success- after establishing a few businesses and expanding the geographical reach and scope of my inherited corporate. I am a severely driven and an extremely disciplined businessman with very high objectives set for my ventures and myself. The dream is to make a mark, lead by example and leave a legacy for my posterity with the thought that success has to be earned every day and ought not to be taken for granted,” he said.
Continually striving for improvement and creating benchmarks within the industries he works in, during tough times, Goel likes to remember the line: “the brick walls are there to show you how badly you want something.” It is a reminder that even when things aren’t going in the right direction, it is important to be reminded that “walls” aren’t there to keep you away but to test the conviction of your desire to climb over them.
