Dubai, UAE, 24 March, 2019: Hillhouse Brasserie – the newest opening from JRG Dubai, the emirate’s leading home-grown restaurant management company – is hosting a one-off stargazing session to mark Earth Hour from 8:30-9:30pm on Saturday, 30 March.

Guests visiting the chic all-day dining venue at Dubai Hills Golf Club will have the opportunity to experience a sustainable menu of Earth’s finest ingredients by candlelight, with Dubai Astronomy Group astronomers and telescopes on hand to ensure celestial views to remember.

With the electricity turned off, Hillhouse Brasserie will fire up its barbecue grill for an unlimited set menu of rump steak, hot dogs, BBQ chicken, loaded burgers, grilled corn and jacket potatoes, while a selection of salads – including artichoke, baby gem and blue cheese salad; potato salad; village salad, and fennel coleslaw, quinoa, broccoli and pumpkin salad – will complement the grill options. Packages start at the earthly sum of AED150 per person.

Away from the grill, Hillhouse Brasserie’s beautiful terrace and lush lawn will be converted into a stargazer’s lab, with guests able to dip in and out of planet-spotting to lounge on comfortable rugs or cosy up in miniature tents to the tunes of an acoustic guitarist. Early movers can also take advantage of happy hour on the terrace from 3-8pm and enjoy the limited edition ‘Starry Night’ beverage blend created especially for the occasion.

With Dubai Astronomy Group telescopes set-up around the venue, Dubai Astronomy Group’s CEO Hasan Ahmad Al Hariri will also share revealing insights on astronomy, discuss the Middle East-inspired origins of stargazing and explain its ancient roots in Arabian culture. Hariri will also point out some of the more accessible constellations for galaxy observers to hone in on through their super lenses.

David Meikle, Outlet Manager of Hillhouse Brasserie, said: “Although we follow the JRG Dubai rulebook in being highly-committed to sustainable practices all-year round, Earth Hour represents a one-off night where the sustainable stars align for everyone. We want to make a difference – so why not dine by candlelight under the stars and enjoy the true glory of our planet by observing its humble place in the galaxies beyond us.”

Hillhouse Brasserie has been free of single-use plastics since opening in late 2018. The restaurant also uses recyclable packaging and offers guests free refills of filtered water in glass jugs to minimise on plastic bottle waste.
