Bett MEA 2019 announces shortlist for award finalists

Abu Dhabi, 17thApril 2019: The Bett MEA (Middle East & Africa) education technology summit and expo has shortlisted finalists in 4 categories for this year’s awards. In collaboration with the event’s worldwide partner Microsoft, Bett MEA is serving as a platform to appreciate and empower excellence and innovation within MEA’s education sector. The awards ceremony will be held on the 22 April 2019 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Victoria James, Event Director, Bett MEA said, “After reviewing hundreds of submitted applications, the shortlist for the 2019 Bett MEA Awards was finalized by a group of highly experienced and well-renowned professionals embedded in the education sector. We are optimistic that the awards will bring out the educational sector’s most innovative stories, setting the new standard to lead a culture change towards education transformation.”

Awards categories

Finalists for the Game Changer category include:

  • Mansoor Alrazooqi(Director of the Virtual Technology Center, Dubai Police, UAE) for the project of Virtual Applications
  • OluwakemiOlurinola(Educational Technology, Exquitec Education Technology, Nigeria) for the project of Girls in Science and Technology (GIST)
  • Henri Muurimaa(CEO, Eduten, Finland) for the project of Eduten Playground and Abdikadir Ismail(Principal, Mwangaza Muslim Mixed Day Secondary School, Kenya) for the project of 50 shillings a day

Headliners for the Collaboration category include:

  • Vanita Uppal OBE, Director, The British School, New Delhi, India
  • FakhriGurbanov, Deputy Director, Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan
  • Raya Bidshahri, Founder & CEO, Awecademy
  • Zelalem Assefa, CEO, Ethiopian Education and Research Network, Ethiopia

Shortlisted for the Innovation Award:

  • Little Thinking Minds (Jordan), ArmathEngineering Laboratories from the Union of Information Technologies Enterprises in Armenia
  • Non-for-profit social enterprise, by Nafham Education, Egypt and Awecademy

In the final category of Leadership, nominees include:
