Celebrating 70 years of preppiness
Dubai, UAE — This Fall/Winter 2019, GANT celebrates its 70th anniversary with a unique collection that salutes the brand’s seven preppy icons it has perfected from the very beginning. The men’s and women’s collections, which launch across all GANT stores this August, seek to blend timeless pieces with new modern essentials that balance business with leisure and explores the magic that happens when city and country lifestyles unite in one outfit.
According to Karen Vogele, EVP of Product and Design for GANT, the days of suits in the office and casual wear on the weekends are gone. Instead, pieces are now mixed and matched, making the clothes work for the occasion and not the other way around.
“We have curated a collection where our iconic pieces like the ‘TP Heavy Rugger’, the ‘GANT Varsity Jacket’, and the ‘Cable Knit’ are mixed with back-to-work staples that have been reinvented to better suit our consumer needs. Think beautiful machine-washable blazers paired with graphic sweatshirts or a modern waxed jacket worn with a dress. We are bringing the country to the city by mixing the best of yesterday with the relevance of today,” Vogele said.
A hallmark of quality, essential pieces from the men’s line include the ‘TP Heavy Rugger’ in a tonal Breton stripe, the washable ‘Check Blazer’ presented in four autumnal checks, tailored in an Italian wool blend fabric with flannel finishing for a signature preppy everyday statement, and the ‘Coastal Duffel’ made from a wool blend double-faced fabric, with a beautifully lined check on the inside and a tonal color on the outside. Layer up in the cold with a cozy knitted sweater, a soft blazer and the ‘Coastal Duffel’.
As the holiday season draws near, GANT launches a small collection that celebrates the feminine line with sleek tailoring, elegant dresses, and graceful blouses paired with fluid skirts. Key pieces from the women’s collection include the ‘Ladies Who Launch’ sweater made to embrace strong and independent women, the ‘Waxed Cropped Jacket’, a fashion-forward twist on a very classic outerwear piece, and finally, the ‘Plisse Sleeve Shirt’, the perfect occasion blouse as well as a preppy and feminine office shirt.
The colour palette for the season features rich olives and forest greens with new shades of university clubhouse hues like sporty reds along with vibrant yellows and deep burgundy. As a brand that grew up along the American East Coast, GANT celebrates all shades of blue, ranging from rich navy tuxedos and bold checks alongside festive prints to make the party even preppier. Stripes and checks play a significant role within the collection as well. Through vertical and horizontal stripes with bold check patterns, GANT pays homage to its American sportswear roots.
The GANT Fall/Winter 2019 collection will be available in stores and online from August 2019.
