Abu Dhabi, UAE, 9 March 2020: The Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius announced that he looks forward to strengthening and developing bilateral relations between Lithuania and the UAE, following a conversation with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates.
He revealed that there are multifaceted partnerships between the UAE and Lithuania at the economic level with food and wood products, and at the level of co-ordination in IT solutions and cyber defence technologies. He added that the current Emirati-Lithuanian economic partnership is estimated to grow at 50%, while looking forward to increasing the volume of Emirati investments in Lithuania, within the UAE’s confidence in the strength of the Lithuanian economy and in the strength and capacity of Lithuanian companies and their future, expressing his aspiration for more co-operation in various sectors.
His Excellency Linkevičius expressed that the interest to improve cooperation was mutual and reciprocal between both the nations. He stated to “ Iris Media “ in Abu Dhabi , “Our commitment to strengthening bi-lateral relations is evident with the recent opening of the Lithuanian embassy in Abu Dhabi. Moreover, the two countries have established close cultural ties with Lithuania recognizing and celebrating momentous Arab occasions there”.
In addition to bilateral cooperation, His Excellency Linkevičius aspires to expand the structure of trade and revealed that they are in talks to promote its tourism offerings, natural landscapes and life sciences capabilities in the UAE.
A delegation from Lithuania attended the Sir Bani Yas Forum and will be participating at Expo 2020 later this year.
