Golfing superstar Ian Poulter puts on a show for students from Dubai Heights Academy and Emirates Golf Federation

Students from Dubai Heights Academy (DHA), a British curriculum school located in the heart of Al Barsha South, took a break from their regular online lessons yesterday to take part in golf masterclass by the enigmatic golf star, Ian Poulter.

The coaching clinic, the first in a digital series and organised by Emirates Golf Federation, took place via Poulter’s Instagram account and allowed students to hone their swing via some top tips and drills hosted by the Ryder Cup legend.

During the live feed, students asked Poulter a range of questions covering everything from improving their game to what it’s like to be a professional golfer. When asked how he’s being coping with the current lockdown, he said: “It’s important to keep in the right mindset and be positive. When practicing in and around the house try setting up a cup and putting a ball into it or use soft balls when practicing your swing – always remember to try and avoid smashing your mum’s vase or taking a divot out of the carpet!”

DHA Principal Alison Lamb, said: “Ian’s masterclass was a fantastic addition to our students’ lessons. Having their very own golf lesson taught by one of golf’s most charismatic professionals was not only fun but a great way of adding variety to our classes.

“Its little surprise Ian’s nickname is ‘the postman’ – he certainly delivered for us!”
