UAE launches Global Tolerance Alliance and promotes religious harmony at Expo 2020 Dubai’s Tolerance and Inclusivity Week
DUBAI, 17 November 2021 – His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai has launched two initiatives aimed at encouraging tolerance and coexistence – areas seen as essential to solving many of the world’s biggest problems.
In a speech at the Italy Pavilion on International Day for Tolerance on Tuesday, 16 November, in the presence of prominent leaders and thinkers from around the world, HE Sheikh Nahayan announced the Global Tolerance Alliance – a unified pledge to peaceful coexistence and tolerance among different nations and cultures. He then officially opened the Joint World Summit of Religions, taking place at Expo this week, aimed at promoting dialogue between different religious backgrounds.
The announcements came amid the global edition of the National Festival of Tolerance and Coexistence, now under way in the UAE and running until 20 November. The Ministry is launching a series of events and initiatives aimed at youth, religion and women, with many activities taking place at Expo 2020 Dubai to coincide with the mega-event’s Tolerance and Inclusivity Week.
HE Sheikh Nahayan said the UAE had become a beacon of tolerance and acceptance, where many nationalities lived together, and said that the National Festival of Tolerance and Coexistence was a message of love and peace to the world. He demonstrated the importance of the interfaith summit, and highlighted the common factors between religions.
HE Sheikh Nahayan said: “We are pleased to be able to host an event that brings together scholars, clerics and intellectuals for interfaith dialogue and action. We thank our partners who are helping with its organisation: Expo 2020 Dubai, the G20 Interfaith Forum 2021, the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, and the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity.
“We believe that the only strategy that will reduce, and eventually eliminate, conflict emerging from religious or cultural differences is direct action to find common ground among people of all nations, cultures and faiths.”
HE Sheikh Nahayan revealed details of the Global Youth Forum, with its theme ‘From Youth to Thinking about the Future’, organised by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in conjunction with the Federal Youth Authority, to highlight the importance of nurturing the younger generation’s creativity. There will also be a conference ‘Women’s Role in Enhancing Values of Coexistence Globally’ conference taking place at the Women’s Pavilion on Wednesday.
Other speakers at the event included His Excellency Miguel Angel Moratinos, High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilisations; Marina Serini, Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; His Eminence Dr Mohammad Al Duweni, Undersecretary of Al Azhar Al Sharif; Pujya Brahmavihari Swami, the Religious Leader and International Spokesman of BAPS Hindu Mandir – Abu Dhabi; Imam Yahya Sergio Yahe Pallavicini, Head of the Italian Muslim Community and Ambassador of the ISESCO Centre for Civilisational Dialogue; and Surender Singh Kandhari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Temple in Dubai.
Guests at the event were also treated to an opening ceremony, where a choir of 219 singers, representing 150 countries at Expo, sang ‘Sallam mina Alemarat (peace from UAE)’.

الإمارات تطلق “التحالف العالمي للتسامح” خلال أسبوع التسامح في إكسبو 2020
دبي، 17 نوفمبر 2021 – تستضيف دولة الإمارات، الأسبوع الجاري، النسخة العالمية من المهرجان الوطني للتسامح والتعايش حتى 20 نوفمبر، حيث تنظم العديد من الفعاليات في إكسبو 2020 دبي، بالتوازي مع أسبوع التسامح والتعايش الذي ينظمه الحدث الدولي، حيث يعتبر ثالث أسابيع إكسبو 2020 المتخصصة العشرة، ويُنظم للاحتفال باليوم العالمي للتسامح الذي يوافق 16 نوفمبر.
وخلال الاحتفال بالمناسبة، أطلق معالي الشيخ نهيان بن مبارك آل نهيان، عضو مجلس الوزراء ووزير التسامح والتعايش، سلسلة من الفعاليات والمبادرات التي تستهدف الشباب والدين والمرأة، مؤكداً أن التسامح والتعايش أساسيان لحل الكثير من كبرى المشاكل التي يعاني منها العالمي.
وفي كلمته بمركز دبي للمعارض في إكسبو 2020، وبحضور عدد من قادة العالم ومفكريه، أعلن معالي الشيخ نهيان بن مبارك عن “التحالف العالمي للتسامح”، وهو تعهد موحد للتعايش السلمي والتسامح بين الأمم والثقافات المختلفة. وبعدها، افتتح رسميا القمة العالمية المشتركة للأديان، التي تقام في موقع إكسبو 2020 هذا الأسبوع بهدف الترويج للحوار بين الخلفيات الدينية المختلفة.
وعبر معالي الشيخ نهيان بن مبارك عن رؤيته بأن تصبح دولة الإمارات منصة للتسامح وقبول الآخر، حيث يعيش عدد كبير من الجنسيات معا، وقال إن المهرجان الوطني للتسامح والتعايش، الذي تنظمه وزارة التسامح والتعايش، كان بمثابة رسالة حب وسلام إلى العالم. وعبر معاليه أيضا عن أهمية اقمة الأديان المشتركة، وسلط الضوء على العوامل المشتركة بين الأديان.
وقال معالي الشيخ نهيان بن مبارك: “نحن سعداء للغاية باستضافة هذا الحدث الذي يجمع بين العلماء ورجال الدين والمفكرين من أجل تعزيز الحوار والعمل المشترك بين الأديان، ولا يسعنا إلا أن نشكر شركاءنا الذين ساعدونا في تنظيم هذا اللقاء، ومنهم إكسبو 2020 دبي، ومنتدى القيم الدينية لمجموعة العشرين لعام 2021، والجناح الإيطالي في إكسبو 2020، واللجنة العليا للأخوة الإنسانية”.
وأكد معاليه على يقينه بأن “الاستراتيجية الوحيدة التي ستحد من الصراعات الناشئة عن الاختلافات الثقافية والدينية، تتمثل في العمل من أجل إيجاد أرضية مشتركة يجتمع عليها الناس من جميع الدول والثقافات والعقائد”.
وبعد ذلك، كشف معالي الشيخ نهيان بن مبارك عن تفاصيل المنتدى الدولي للشباب، الذي يرفع شعار “من الشباب إلى التفكير في المستقبل”، وتنظمه وزارة التسامح والتعايش بالاشتراك مع المؤسسة الاتحادية للشباب، وذلك لتسليط الضوء على أهمية الاهتمام بابتكارات الجيل الأصغر سنا. وسيقام أيضا مؤتمر دور المرأة في تطوير قيم التعايش عالميا في 17 نوفمبر.
وضمت قائمة المتحدثين أيضا معالي ميغيل أنخيل موراتينوس، الممثل السامي للأمم المتحدة لتحالف الحضارات وكيل الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة والممثل السامي للأمم المتحدة لتحالف الحضارات، وسعادة مارينا سيريني، نائبة وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي الإيطالي، وفضيلة الدكتور محمد الدويني، وكيل الأزهر الشريف، وقداسة سوامي براهمافيهرداس، الزعيم الديني لمنبر بابس الهندوسي – أبوظبي، والإمام يحيى سيرجيو ياهي بالافتشيني، رئيس الطائفة الإسلامية الإيطالية وسفير مركز الإيسيسكو للحوار الحضاري، والسيد سوريندر سينغ كاندهاري، رئيس مجلس إدارة معبد جورو ناناك دربار للسيخ بدبي.
وقد حضر الضيوف مراسم الافتتاح، حيث شارك كورال من 219 مغنيا يمثلون 150 دولة مشاركة في إكسبو 2020 في تقديم أغنية “سلام من الإمارات”
