DUBAI, 16 November 2021 – Bookworms tomorrow (17 November) will get a taste of what next year’s Emirates Airline Festival of Literature has in store, with music, entertainment and colourful projections at Expo’s Al Wasl dome to announce the stellar line-up of guest authors due to appear at the event.
More than 250 VVIPs, authors, media, Festival Friends and book lovers have been invited to the reveal. Emirati soul singer Arqam Al Abri will open the proceedings with the song ‘New Dawn’, followed by a presentation on the world’s largest 360-degree projection surface to set the scene, introducing the festival theme, ‘Here Comes the Sun’ – a message of positivity in a post-pandemic world.
Ahlam Bolooki, Emirates Airline Festival of Literature’s Festival Director, will then reveal the authors attending. The festival itself is not until February, taking place at locations around Dubai, but, if past editions are anything to go by, there will be both local and international writers, from a range of different backgrounds, cultures and genres, including celebrity names.
Andrea Gissdal, Emirates Airline Festival of Literature’s Head of Marketing and Communications, explains why Expo was chosen to reveal the line-up: “Expo 2020 tells us we all have the power to build a better world and shape the future. The Emirates Literature Foundation believes that literature is one of the most important tools we have to build a better, more empathetic world, and spread literacy and the thirst for knowledge.”
The 14th annual Emirates Airline Festival of Literature takes place from 2-13 February. It is one of the world’s leading literary events, and the biggest celebration of the written and spoken word in the Middle East, featuring panel sessions, workshops and Q&As.
