Public invited to sing with Expo World Choir at Jubilee Park

DUBAI, 4 December 2021 – The Ireland Pavilion has issued an open invitation to everyone in the UAE to join the Expo World Choir on 9 December at Expo 2020 Dubai’s Jubilee Stage, in an attempt to bring together the largest number of nationalities to sing together as one voice.

The aim is to unite on one stage in perfect symphony, echoing Expo 2020’s theme – ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ – and uniting the world through shared experiences.

The Expo World Choir celebrates the rich heritage of Irish music, and is led by the accomplished Irish conductor David Brophy, who will guide participating singers through a carefully curated selection of widely recognised Irish and international songs.

David Brophy said: “We have created this show to accommodate as many people in the choir as possible – we will have three choir sections, and the largest choir … is open to everyone. So even those who’ve never sung in a choir before can join in the fun and create this largest of choirs. We have a number of songs for everyone, including One by U2 and – for obvious reasons – Sing It Back by Moloko.”

The Expo World Choir will be supported by soloists from Ireland’s National Concert Hall, including Dana Masters, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Jerry Fish and Tolü Makay. These soloists hail from a variety of different musical backgrounds, each adding a unique sound to the repertoire.

Section two is made up of a 120-strong choir of experienced individual choral singers, guiding choir participants through the notes and melodies of each song.

Section three will be the largest part of the choir, open to participants of all ages and skill levels from across the Expo family and UAE community, regardless of their singing ability.
