Can you describe your entrepreneurial journey and the motivation behind starting your business?
Entrepreneurial Journey and Motivation Behind Starting Global Plasma Supply LTD
My journey into the entrepreneurial world began in Lebanon, where I started as a blood banker. This role laid the foundation for my deep understanding of transfusion medicine and the critical need for efficient, reliable blood and plasma supply systems. As my career evolved, I joined AstraZeneca, where I discovered the broader pharmaceutical world. This experience opened my eyes to the industry’s vast potential for making an impact on global health.
I later transitioned into the role of an application specialist at a local company in Lebanon. Over the years, I worked my way up, eventually becoming a partner and helping establish a branch of the company in the UK. Unfortunately, due to the Lebanese-Israeli war, the project faced significant setbacks and ultimately crumbled.
However, rather than seeing this as a setback, I recognized it as an opportunity to channel my experiences, knowledge, and passion into something greater. This led to the founding of Global Plasma Supply LTD—an organization dedicated to addressing the critical gaps in the plasma supply chain, driven by a strong sense of purpose, values of fairness, transparency, and innovation.
Global Plasma Supply is not just a business; it’s a mission. Can you share a significant challenge you’ve faced in your business and how you overcame it?
A Significant Challenge and How I Overcame It
One of the greatest challenges I’ve faced in building Global Plasma Supply LTD was safeguarding funding for our project. As a company focused on improving plasma procurement, I knew it was essential to secure significant financial backing to make a real impact. However, I faced the unique challenge of wanting to bring funding from outside the healthcare and plasma industry, as I believed this approach would allow us to maintain our independence while still addressing the urgent needs of patients.
It wasn’t easy—many investors were hesitant to enter a market that was seen as niche and complex. But I was driven by the understanding that patients urgently needed these life-saving therapies, and this fueled my determination.
I focused on demonstrating the long-term value and sustainability of our business model, showing how our operations could be a game-changer for both the plasma supply chain and the healthcare industry. Over time, I was able to build trust with investors who shared our vision of creating an equitable, transparent, and efficient plasma supply chain. By staying committed to our mission and aligning our objectives with the needs of both the industry and the patients we aim to serve, we successfully overcame this challenge and set the foundation for our ongoing success.
