Intertek certifies Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) for energy management
May 25, 2021 Abu Dhabi, UAE – Intertek, a Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide announced it has awarded Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co (EGAS) with the globally-recognised ISO 50001 certification for Energy Management Systems. EGAS is one of the first holding companies in the Egyptian oil and gas sector to be awarded with this recognition for its energy conservation business.
ISO 50001 is a systematic framework that helps organisations manage energy and address their environmental impact, conserve resources, and improve the bottom line through efficient energy management. The standard provides requirements for a systematic, data driven and facts-based process, focused on improving energy performance. ISO 50001 promotes the adoption of energy management best practices and reinforces good energy management behaviours.
The award for Energy Management Systems was presented by Hussein El Gendy, General Manager at Intertek Egypt, to Engineer Yaseen Mohammed, Vice Chairman of Operations and Natural Gas Grids at EGAS, at an official handover ceremony.
Hany El Rouby, General Manager of Energy Conservation of EGAS, said: “Being awarded with the certification for Energy Management Systems is a testament to our continued commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. We have been working on reducing our energy consumption and raising awareness among our employees since 2011, in line with recommendations from the Ministry of Petroleum. Achieving this certification proves we have advanced all our existing procedures and means we will be able to lead the way for our subsidiaries when it comes to having an efficient energy management system in place. As a result, we will be able to ensure that our energy consumption is aligned with our overall commitment to Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainability. We would like to thank Intertek’s auditing team for its cooperation and high level of support throughout the certification process. We would also like to thank all EGAS departments for their productive cooperation.”

أعلنت “إنترتك”، إحدى الشركات الرائدة في توفير حلول ضمان الجودة لمختلف القطاعات حول العالم، أنها منحت الشركة المصرية القابضة للغازات الطبيعية (إيجاس) شهادة الآيزو 50001 العالمية في مجال نظم إدارة الطاقة. وجدير بالذكر أن “إيجاس” هي من أوائل الشركات القابضة في قطاع البترول والغاز المصري التي تحصل على شهادة الاعتماد هذه لأعمالها في مجال ترشيد الطاقة.
تُشكّل شهادة الآيزو 50001 إطار عمل شامل يساعد المؤسسات على إدارة الطاقة ومعرفة تأثيرها على البيئة إضافة إلى الحفاظ على الموارد وتحسين الربحية من خلال الإدارة الفعالة للطاقة. ويوفر المعيار المتطلبات اللازمة من أجل تحقيق عمليات وإجراءات شاملة قائمة على البيانات والحقائق تستهدف تحسين أداء الطاقة. كما ويشجع معيار آيزو 50001 على تبني أفضل الممارسات في إدارة الطاقة كما يعزز السلوكيات السليمة لإدارة الطاقة.
قام حسين الجندي، مدير عام “إنترتك” مصر، بتقديم الشهادة إلى المهندس ياسين محمد، نائب رئيس مجلس إدارة العمليات وشبكات الغاز الطبيعي في شركة “إيجاس” ، خلال احتفال رسمي نظم بهذه المناسبة.
صرح هاني الروبي، مدير عام ترشيد الطاقة في “إيجاس”: إن حصولنا على شهادة في مجال نظم إدارة الطاقة هو تأكيد جديد على التزامنا المتواصل بفعالية واستدامة الطاقة. إننا نعمل على تخفيض استهلاكنا للطاقة وعلى رفع الوعي بين موظفينا منذ عام 2011، وذلك عملاً بتوصيات وزارة البترول. وبلوغنا هذا الاعتماد يؤكد على أننا ارتقينا بكل إجراءاتنا الحالية، مما يعني أننا سنتمكن من أن نمهد الطريق أمام شركاتنا الفرعية لكي تؤسس نظم فعالة لإدارة الطاقة. ونتيجة لذلك، سنستطيع أن نتأكد من أن استهلاكنا للطاقة يتفق مع التزامنا الكلي برؤية مصر 2030 للاستدامة. نود أن نتقدم بالشكر لفريق التدقيق في ’إنترتك‘ على تعاونه وعلى دعمه الفائق طوال عملية الاعتماد. كما نود أن نشكر كل إدارات ’إيجاس‘ على تعاونها المثمر.”
هذا وهنأ حسين الجندي، المدير العام في “إنترتك” مصر، الشركة المصرية القابضة للغازات الطبيعية على هذا الإنجاز، قائلاً: “إن الخطوات التي اتخذتها ’إيجاس‘ لبلوغ هذا الاعتماد تُظهر تفانٍ غير عادي لبلوغ الأهداف الصعبة المطلوبة لمعيار آيزو 5001 وكذلك التزاماً حقيقياً بتوفير الطاقة. هذا أمر يتطلب مستوى عالٍ من التفاني ويحتاج إلى وعي سليم لدى الفريق بأكمله لتحقيق هذا الإنجاز. لقد وجد مدققونا في فريق ’إيجاس‘ اندفاعاً كبيراً وجهداً كبيراً طوال عملية الاعتماد وقد أعجبوا بمستوى الكفاءة التي تمت بها تشغيل نظام إدارة الطاقة والتحسين المتواصل في كافة المجالات. باعتمادها نظم إدارة الطاقة، ستتمكن ’إيجاس‘ من خفض استهلاك وتكاليف الطاقة في عموم سلسلة التوريد وكذلك الحد من تأثيرها على البيئة.”{:}
