HH Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza AlNahyan Announces Participation In This Year’s Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF)

5 June 2021, Dubai, United Arab Emirates—Acclaimed Emirati author and member of the UAE ruling family, HH Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan, announces her participation in this year’s Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), set to take place 3 November to 13 November 2021, as part of the promotional campaign around her latest children’s book release, The Horse, The Saluki, & The Falcon.

Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad AlQasimi, member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, and under the flagship of Sharjah Book Authority, the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) is an annual international cultural event which exhibits and promotes the work of acclaimed Arabic & International authors, and the publishing industry. Additionally, the book fair runs intellectual, cultural and artistic activities, and has established awards programs in accordance with nomination and selection mechanisms implemented around the year awarding authors in different categories such as Best Emirati Book, Best International Book, Best Arabic Novel, The Publisher Recognition Awards, Cultural Personality of The Year, and The Turjuman Awards. With her participation in this year’s event, HH Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan hopes to further support Its goal in promoting reading as a habit among the younger generation while instilling the love of literature among the people of the region.

The Horse, The Saluki & The Falcon is a collection of quotes that pays homage to the UAE, taking celebrated animals from the Emirati culture and turning them into icons of wisdom that impart lessons in empathy, love and kindness. Taking stylistic inspiration from Charlie Mackesy’s critically acclaimed book, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse, Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza AlNahyan takes her knack of weaving percipience into prose. This latest release charts the author’s crossover into fiction for a more mature audience.

Renowned author Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan shared, “I am humbled and honored to take part in this esteemed event and exhibit my work. My mission is to raise awareness around our cultural heritage through a series of children’s books, and to have people from across the world know more about our history and culture. That is why I have displayed my work in numerous reputable book fairs and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to display my books at the Sharjah International Book Fair.’’

Making her debut as an author in 2019 with her first book The Invisible Orphans, followed by four additional children’s books packed with stories and lessons, the prestigious writer made it a necessity to pay tribute to her Emirati heritage through her writing as she later discovered there are few books that represent the Emirati culture.

About the Author:

HH Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza AlNahyan, an Emirati Author, and granddaughter of the late HH Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, began her literary journey in 2015 after a year of exploring her creative side  which led to her journey in writing fictional novels. It is the author’s mission to have her novels pay tribute to her Emirati culture & heritage, as it became apparent that there wasn’t enough stories and representation of the UAE in the literary world and the author wanted to be considered as one of the writers that sheds light on the Emirati culture in a modern story-telling way.

After the writing her first novel, The Invisible Orphans, HH Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan’s next four books came with ease, and by 2019, the 21 year old writer has published five books in total which are:

8 يونيو 2021، دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة: أعلنت الشيخة سلامة بنت هزاع آل نهيان، الكاتبة الإماراتية المعروفة وعضو الأسرة الحاكمة في دولة الإمارات، مشاركتها في معرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب لهذا العام والمقرر عقده في الفترة من 3 إلى 13 نوفمبر 2021، وذلك في إطار الحملة الترويجية للتعريف بأحدث رواياتها في مجال أدب الطفل وعنوانها “الحصان، السلوقي والصقر”.

تنفيذاً لتوجيهات صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي، عضو المجلس الأعلى حاكم الشارقة، وبتنظيم من هيئة الشارقة للكتاب، يُعدّ معرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب فعالية ثقافية دولية تُعقد سنوياً لتسليط الضوء على أعمال أبرز المؤلفين العرب والدوليين وصناعة النشر.

كذلك، يستضيف معرض الكتاب فعاليات فكرية وثقافية وفنية، وقد أطلق عدة جوائز وفق مرئيات وآليات تستمر على مدار العام لتكريم المؤلفين عبر فئات مختلفة، تشمل جائزة الكتاب الإماراتي، وجائزة أفضل كتاب أجنبي، وجائزة أفضل كتاب عربي، وجائزة تكريم دور النشر، وشخصية العام الثقافية وجائزة ترجمان. وانطلاقاً من مشاركتها في دورة العام الحالي، تأمل سمو الشيخة سلامة بنت هزاع آل نهيان في دعم أهداف المعرض المتمثلة في تعميق عادات القراءة بين الناشئة مع غرس حب الأدب في نفوس أبناء المنطقة.

تضم رواية “الحصان، السلوقي والصقر” مجموعة من الاقتباسات التي تشيد بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وتنتقي الكاتبة حيوانات شهيرة في الثقافة الإماراتية وتحوّلها إلى شخصيات حكيمة تقدّم دروساً في التعاطف والحب والرفق. تستوحي الشيخة سلامة بنت هزاع آل نهيان إلهامها الأدبي في هذا الكتاب من رواية نالت استحسان النقاد للمؤلف تشارلي ماكيسي وتحمل عنوان “الصبي، الخلد، الثعلب والحصان”، وتستعين المؤلفة بملكيتها لصياغة الأفكار بأسلوب قصصي مثير، فتأتي الرواية لتعكس انتقال المؤلفة إلى الأدب الروائي الموجّه لجمهور أكثر نضجاً.

وقالت الكاتبة المعروفة الشيخة سلامة بنت هزاع آل نهيان: “أشعر بالتواضع والامتنان لمشاركتي في هذه الفعالية المرموقة وعرض عملي الأدبي. تتمثل مهمتي في رفع الوعي حول تراثنا الثقافي من خلال سلسلة من كتب الأطفال، ليعرف الناس من مختلف أنحاء العالم المزيد عن تاريخنا وثقافتنا. لذا، عرضت أعمالي الأدبية في عدد من معارض الكتب البارزة ويسعدني أن أحظى بفرصة لعرض رواياتي في معرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب”.

استهلت الكاتبة المعروفة مسيرتها الأدبية عام 2019 بروايتها الأولى “يتامى في الغيب”، التي تلتها أربع روايات أخرى لليافعين مفعمة بالقصص الهادفة والعِبر القيّمة، وذلك انطلاقاً من رؤيتها بضرورة تكريم تراثها الإماراتي خلال كتاباتها عندما اكتشفت لاحقاً ندرة الكتب التي تمثل الثقافة الإماراتية.

نبذة عن المؤلفة:

استهلت الشيخة سلامة بنت هزاع آل نهيان، الكاتبة الإماراتية وحفيدة الشيخ زايد آل نهيان، طيّب الله ثراه، رحلتها الأدبية في عام 2015 بعد عام قضته في استكشاف جانبها الإبداعي بدأت بعده رحلتها في كتابة الروايات الخيالية. تتمثل مهمة الكاتبة في تقديم روايات تشيد بثقافتها وتراثها الإماراتي، بعد أن اتضح جلياً عدم وجود قصص وروايات كافية عن دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في عالم الأدب، وحرصت الكاتبة على أن تكون من المؤلفين الذين يسلّطون الضوء على الثقافة الإماراتية بأسلوب جديد في سرد القصص.

بعد تأليف روايتها الأولى “يتامى في الغيب”، توالت الروايات الأربع التالية لسمو الشيخة سلامة بنت هزاع آل نهيان، وبحلول عام 2019 كانت الكاتبة ذات 21 ربيعاً قد أصدرت خمس روايات إجمالاً، هي:
