Sisters Grimm Founders, Former Royal Ballet Ballerina and Grammy-Nominated Composer and Painter Announce ‘Daughters of the Wind’ Show Overture
The Show Represents a Premiere Theatrical Spectacle for the Region and First Time Performance of a Royal Ballet Ballerina in the UAE
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, June 2021: Pietra and Ella Theatre Production Shows UAE (est. 2020) and Sisters Grimm (est. 2009), founded by Pietra De Mello-Pittman MBE and Ella Spira MBE, are proud to announce ‘Daughters of the Wind,’ a world premiere theatrical spectacle and their first live performance in the region.
The premier takes place at Dubai Opera this Autumn and for the first time in Dubai, Royal Ballet Ballerina Pietra De Mello-Pittman is to perform. The show seeks to recount the story of a land that while may have been transformed by industry, is instilled by inspiration from the natural surroundings and brings people together to embrace a future of collaboration and community.
Pietra and Ella have dedicated their lives to cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary, global collaborations spotlighting and celebrating different cultures through the arts. Their productions have been viewed and celebrated by millions all over the world; their mission is to tell stories focusing on mental and physical well-being and ecological awareness, with the aim to affect individuals into cultural and social change.
With foundations set in classical fine arts training and a combined creative industry experience of 35 years, they have collaborated with the world’s best artists and created ground-breaking sell out successes. Earlier this year, Pietra and Ella were awarded MBEs for ‘Services to International Trade and to the Creative Industry’ in the New Year Honours list recognising their achievements in promoting global commerce and ideas exchange.
As a ballerina with the Royal Ballet, Pietra has performed in over ten countries on the world’s largest and most prestigious stages, including The Royal Opera House London, Bolshoi in Moscow, and New York’s Lincoln Centre. Pietra continues to make one-off special performances for Sisters Grimm in their shows, and this will be her first-ever performance in the Middle East and the first time Dubai has had a Royal Ballet Ballerina on stage.
The UAE is a home to all and welcomes the world. The show will be particularly special because Pietra herself will perform as the protagonist, an Emirati woman who strives to make an environmental difference in the world for future generations. Pietra will be joined on stage by singers DB Gad and Madyan Hamza, whose soaring vocals and lyrical prowess will accompany the show live in this uniquely curated spectacle.
Daughters of the Wind will have a UAE residency, a world tour and a film musical, giving a voice to the culture globally and building bridges between nations. The aim is to create a meaningful ecosystem, offering opportunities and contributing to the overall growth and legacy of the creative industry in the region.
The show will also be the first unveiling of the ‘50 for 50’ fine art series in honour of the UAE’s Golden Jubilee year and representing an emotional journey through the UAE’s stunning natural landscapes. The sale of the series, valued at tens of millions of dirhams, will fund the revolutionary performing arts training programme, ‘The Art of Practice,’ centred around the work of Sisters Grimm. The programme, which is for anyone under 18 and will be embedded into regional school curriculums, seeks to create a clear pathway into Sisters Grimm’s productions that tour internationally, including in London’s West End, China, Singapore and Japan.
In an effort to attract creative individuals from around the world across the arts and culture sector to study, live and work in Dubai, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority is supporting the show and the holistic training programme as a cultural partner. The Authority’s support comes in line with its six-year strategic roadmap to position Dubai as a coveted destination of choice by all arts and culture enthusiasts, a beacon of cultural diversity for international talent, and the epicenter for creativity and cultural dialogue, as well as aligns with the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to double the number of creative companies specializing in content, design and culture.

أعلنت شركة ’بييترا أند إيلّا للعروض والمهرجانات الفنية‘ (Pietra and Ella Theatre Production Shows) التي تم تأسيسها في الإمارات العربية المتحدة سنة 2020، وشركة الإنتاج الفنّي Sisters Grimm التي تم تأسيسها سنة 2009، عن انطلاق استعراض ’بنات الريح‘ الذي يشكّل عملاً مسرحياً افتتاحياً عالمي المستوى والأداء الأول المباشر لهما في المنطقة.
ينطلق العرض من ’دبي أوبرا‘ في فصل الخريف القادم، وللمرّة الأولى في دبي ستتألّق بأدائها فيه راقصة فرقة ’رويال باليه‘ الشهيرة، بييترا دي ميلّو-بيتمان، والتي قامت بالتعاون مع زميلتها المؤلِّفة إيلّا سبيرا التي تم ترشيحها لجائزة ’غرامي‘، بتأسيس شركتَي ’بييترا أند إيلّا للعروض والمهرجانات الفنية‘ وSisters Grimm. ويسعى الاستعراض لسرد قصّة أرض شهدت الكثير من التحوّلات بفضل قطاعات الأعمال المختلفة، لكن في الوقت ذاته تقوم على الإلهام الذي تمدّها به الطبيعة المحيطة وتجمع الناس معاً لتبنّي مستقبل يتميّز بالتعاون والتلاقي.
تتميّز بييترا وإيلّا بكونهما قد كرّستا حياتهما للفنون العابرة للثقافات ذات الأنماط المتعدّدة ولأجل التعاون الدولي، وذلك بهدف تسليط الضوء على الثقافات المختلفة والاحتفاء بها من خلال الفنون المتنوّعة. وقد لاقت أعمالهما والثقافات التي تم الاحتفاء بها الكثير من الاهتمام والإقبال بين أوساط الملايين حول العالم، خصوصاً وأن مهمّتهما تتمحور حول إخبار القصص المميَّزة التي تركّز على العافية الذهنية والبدنية وتعزيز الوعي بالنظام الإيكولوجي، مع هدف التأثير بالأشخاص والدفع نحو التغيير الثقافي والاجتماعي.
ولقد تعاونت بييترا وإيلّا مع أفضل الفنّانين المبدعين في العالم وحقّقتا نجاحاً فنياً مبهراً، وذلك بالارتكاز على الأسس المتجذِّرة عميقاً في مجال التدريب على الفنون الجميلة الكلاسيكية والمتناغِمة مع الخبرات في مجال الصناعات الإبداعية المكتسَبة على مدى 35 سنة. وفي وقت سابق من العام الجاري، تم منح كل من بييترا وإيلّا لقب ’رتبة الإمبراطورية البريطانية‘ نظير إسهاماتهما الكبيرة في تعزيز ’الخدمات بمجال التجارة الدولية والقطاعات الإبداعية‘ ضمن لائحة الشرف للسنة الجديدة وتكريماً لإنجازاتهما في الترويج للتجارة الدولية وتبادل الأفكار.
كما تجدر الإشارة إلى أن بييترا، وبصفتها راقصة ضمن فرقة ’رويال باليه‘، قد شاركت في الاستعراضات العديدة في أكثر من عشر دول حول العالم حيث لمعت على أضخم وأبرز المسارح الدولية، بما فيها ’رويال أوبرا هاوس‘ في لندن و’بولشوي‘ في موسكو و’لينكولن سنتر‘ في نيويورك. وتستمر بييترا بالظهور في الاستعراضات الخاصّة التي تنفّذها شركة Sisters Grimm، وسيكون هذا العمل الجديد الأداء الأول لها على الإطلاق في الشرق الأوسط والمرّة الأولى التي تستضيف فيها دبي راقصة من فرقة ’رويال باليه‘ على مسارحها.
تشكّل دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة موطناً جامعاً وتستضيف العالم في رحباها. ويحظى هذا الاستعراض بأهمية خاصّة كون بييترا شخصياً ستلعب الدور الرئيسي الذي يمثّل سيدة إماراتية تسعى لإحداث أثر تغييري بيئي بارز في العالم لصالح الأجيال القادمة. وسينضم إلى بييترا على المسرح عدد من النجوم مثل ديبي جاد ومدين حمزة، حيث سيقومان بالغناء بشكل مباشر مصاحب لهذا الاستعراض الرائع.
سوف يتخذ عمل ’بنات الريح‘ من الإمارات مقراً له ويقوم بجولة عالمية ويتم إنتاج فيلم موسيقي مصوَّر له، وهو يُبرِز الثقافة المحلّية على الساحة الدولية ويعمل على مد الجسور بين الأمم. والهدف هو إيجاد نظام إيكولوجي ذي معنى هادف وتوفير الفرص والمساهَمة في النمو العام وتعزيز مكانة القطاع الإبداعي في المنطقة.
وسيتم عبر الاستعراض أيضاً وللمرّة الأولى الكشف عن سلسلة أعمال إبداعية بمجال الفنون الجميلة تضم 50 لوحة من مجموعة متميّزة تعكس المناظر الطبيعية الرائعة للإمارات العربية المتحدة وذلك بمناسبة الاحتفال بمرور 50 سنة على تأسيس الدولة. وسوف تذهب إيرادات مبيعات هذه السلسلة التي يتم تقييمها بعشرات ملايين الدراهم لأجل تمويل برنامج ’فن التمرّس‘ الثوري المخصَّص للتدريب الفني والمتمحور حول أعمال Sisters Grimm. وسيكون البرنامج مخصَّصاً لأي طالب تحت عمر 18 سنة وسيتم إدراجه ضمن المنهاج التعليمي للمدارس في المنطقة، وهو يسعى لرسم مسار واضح نحو إنتاجات Sisters Grimm التي تجول حول العالم بما في ذلك ويست إند في لندن والصين وسنغافورة واليابان.
وفي جهد منها لاستقطاب الأشخاص المبدعين في مجالات الفنون والثقافة من مختلف أرجاء العالم بهدف الدراسة والعيش والعمل في دبي، تقوم هيئة الثقافة والفنون في دبي (دبي للثقافة) بتوفير الدعم اللازم لهذا الاستعراض والبرنامج التدريبي المتكامل بصفتها شريكاً ثقافياً. ويأتي الدعم الذي تقدّمه الهيئة متوافقاً مع خراطة الطريق الاستراتيجية الممتدّة لست سنوات والساعية لجعل دبي وجهة بارزة مفضَّلة لدى جميع الناشطين في المجالات الفنية والثقافية، لتصبح منارة في مجال التنوّع الثقافي تشع من خلالها إبداعات أصحاب المواهب الدولية، وتكون مركزاً للإبداع والحوار الثقافي. كما إن هذا يتماشى مع ’استراتيجية دبي للاقتصاد الإبداعي‘ التي أطلقها صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي، رعاه الله، لمضاعفة عدد الشركات الإبداعية بدبي في مجالات المحتوى والتصميم والثقافة.
