Addressing the challenges of streaming the forum programme online
Exclusive Performances by Naseer Shamma Conclude Abu Dhabi Festival’s Global Oud Forum
As part of a special commission and production, and with the sponsorship of its lead partner, Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), the 18th edition of Abu Dhabi Festival (ADF), held under the theme ‘The Future Starts Now’, streamed the final episode of the Global Oud Forum across its digital channels, featuring Arab oud master and UNESCO Artist for Peace, Naseer Shamma, with three exclusive oud performances by Shamma himself.
In the episode finale, Shamma spoke about the challenges and reasons for hosting the forum virtually and the value of research presented by experts in music and the arts industry, in addition to how the participants for this year’s edition of the forum were chosen.
Shamma said: “At the Global Oud Forum a group of creatives come together to present their visions, ideas, music and innovations in the world of the oud. It is an attempt to bring together musicians, oud makers, researchers and critics in one arena, where they exchange advice, experiences, ideas and methodologies from around the world.
He continued, “We held the first Global Oud Forum in Cairo in 2010. It was a collaboration between the Egyptian Opera House (the Egyptian Ministry of Culture) and Abu Dhabi Festival, and with our shared vision, we were able to offer a variety of events, that included all the parties that are part of the world of the oud, and now the second session of GOF is held virtually. The aim is to preserve the musicians’ and audiences’ access to concerts, and this will be the case in future gatherings of the Forum.We ensured that the content of the performance is of high quality with dedicated specialists to record the programme in 23 locations globally, where 27 musicians from various nations took part.” “With Abu Dhabi Festival, we have a relationship that spans 25 years since the Festival’s first edition. We have worked together on several big dreams most of which were unprecedented. This is the 15th project that we have worked on with the Festival, and all were new experiences that were open to the public, where the artist was able to present their best. Abu Dhabi Festival has done everything to continue this relationship, which is based on mutual respect and understanding, to crystalise many ideas and realise ways to implement each idea,” he added. GOF announced in the finale that print and online publications from participating authors are made available on the website. These publications form a reservoir of information about the oud instrument and a reliable reference for future musical projects.
Across its seven TV-format episodes, GOF2021 shed light on the work of oud makers, innovations in the musical instrument industry, the history and present of the oud in the Gulf region and the means of its globalisation, the pioneers of the modern musical instrument industry, how to leverage digital technologies in oud music and the influence of digital music on the arts.
Held under the theme ‘The Future Starts Now’, the year-long programme of the 18th edition of Abu Dhabi Festival combines a unique hybrid programme of virtual and in-person performances, exhibitions and events leveraging the latest digital technology, with the participation of over 500 artists from more than 50 countries. The Festival will provide audiences with 16 exciting world premieres, 12 festival productions, eight global co-productions and four exclusive commissions, with 1 global music tour.

مهرجان أبوظبي يختتم ملتقى العود العالمي بـ 3 مقطوعات موسيقية حصرية لنصير شمّه
ضمن أعمال التكليف والإنتاج الخاص، وفي دورته الثامنة عشرة، تحت شعار «المستقبل يبدأ الآن»، وبرعاية الشريك الرئيسي شركة مبادلة للاستثمار «مبادلة»، اختتم مهرجان أبوظبي 2021، سلسلة فعاليات ملتقى العود العالمي، بعرض الحلقة السابعة، التي استضافت أستاذ العود العربي اﻟـﻔﻨﺎن ﻧـﺼﻴﺮ شمّه؛ وذلك عبر منصات المهرجان الرقمية.
وأدى «شمّه»، في الحلقة السابعة والأخيرة من السلسلة، ثلاث ﻣـﻘﻄﻮﻋـﺎت ﻣـﻮﺳـﻴﻘﻴﺔ، كما سلط الضوء على أﺳـﺒﺎب ﺗﺤـﺪﻳـﺎت ﺑـﺚ اﻟـﻤﻠﺘﻘﻰ افتراضيا، وﻋـﻦ ﻗـﻴﻤﺔ اﻷﺑـﺤﺎث اﻟـﻤﻘﺪﻣـﺔ ﻣـﻦ ﻗـﺒﻞ أﺳـﺎﺗـﺬة ذوي ﺧـﺒﺮة ﻓـﻲ ﻣـﺠﺎل اﻟـﻤﻮﺳـﻴﻘﻰ واﻟﻔﻨﻮن، والخطط المستقبلية للملتقى.
وقال «شمّه» خلال الحلقة: «في ملتقى العود العالمي اجتمع نخبة من المبدعين لتقدم رؤاهم وأفكارهم وموسيقاهم وابتكاراتهم في عالم العود، هي محاولة لمِّ شمل العازفين والصناع والباحثين والنقاد في ساحة واحدة، يتبادلون خلالها المشورة والتجارب والأفكار حول العود وأساليبه المتعددة والتي انتشرت في كل مكان خلال السنوات الأخيرة».
وتابع، «عقدنا الملتقى الأول 2010 في القاهرة بالتعاون مع دار الأوبرا المصرية -وزارة الثقافة، ومهرجان أبوظبي، وتضمن ليالٍ متنوعة شملت كافة الأطراف المختصة بعالم العود»، مضيفا «وفي هذا العام عقدنا التجربة الثانية للملتقى هذا افتراضياً ليبقى العازف والجمهور في جو الحفلات، كما حرصنا على التي تصل على الجمهور مادة نوعية مدروسة بشكل عالٍ من فنيين متخصصين في تصوير في 23 موقعا حول العالم بمشاركة 27 عازفاً وعازفة من جنسيات متعددة.
وعن الشراكة مع مهرجان أبوظبي، قال «شمَّه»، «إنَّ العلاقة مهرجان أبوظبي تمتد لـ 25 سنة منذ دورته الأولى عملنا أحلام كبيرة وعديدة ومتنوعة وجديدة معظمها كان لأول مرة هذا يعني أنها كانت إنتاج خاص وحصري، وهذه هي التجربة رقم 15 التي نقدمها بالتعاون مع المهرجان كلها كانت منفتحة على العالم»، مضيفا «استطاع الفنان أن يقدم أفضل ما لديه، ومهرجان أبوظبي استطاع أن يسهل كافة الأمور لتكون هذا العلاقة مستمرة ومبنية على الحرص والاحترام الشديد والمشورة لبلورة أفكار كثيرة لاختيار طرق صحيحة في تنفيذ كل فكرة.”
وفي ختام ملتقى العود العالمي، تم الإعلان عن إصدارات ورقية وإلكترونية لمؤلفين مشاركين كتبوا أعمالاً لآلة العود أو بحوثاً متخصصة، إضافة إلى رفع كافة المشاركات على الموقع الإلكتروني لتكون لاحقا مرجعاً لأفضل المشاريع الموسيقية نظرية وصناعية.
وسلط ملتقى العود العالمي، على مدار 7 حلقات بهيكلية تلفزيونية، الضوء على أﻋـﻤﺎل صانعي اﻟـﻌﻮد، واﻻﺑـﺘﻜﺎرات ﻓـﻲ ﻗـﻄﺎع ﺻـﻨﺎﻋـﺔ اﻵﻻت اﻟـﻤﻮﺳـﻴﻘﻴﺔ، وﺗـﺎرﻳـﺦ وﺣـﺎﺿـﺮ آﻟـﺔ اﻟـﻌﻮد ﻓـﻲ ﻣـﻨﻄﻘﺔ اﻟﺨـﻠﻴﺞ اﻟـﻌﺮﺑـﻲ وﺳـﺒﻞ ﻋـﻮﻟـﻤﺘﻪ، ورواد اﻟــﻌﺼﺮ اﻟﺤــﺪﻳــﺚ ﻓــﻲ ﺻــﻨﺎﻋــﺔ اﻵﻻت اﻟــﻤﻮﺳــﻴﻘﻴﺔ، واﻟﺘﻘﻨﻴﺎت اﻟﺮﻗﻤﻴﺔ وﺗﻮﻇﻴﻔﻬﺎ ﻓﻲ ﻣﻮﺳﻴﻘﻰ اﻟﻌﻮد، واﻟﺘﺄﺛﻴﺮ اﻟﺮﻗﻤﻲ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﻔﻦ.
جدير بالذكر، أن فعاليات مهرجان أبوظبي 2021، في دورته الثامنة عشرة تحت شعار «المستقبل يبدأ الآن» تستمر- على مدار عام كامل- حيث يدمج بين العروض التقليدية والعروض الافتراضية المعتمدة على أحدث التقنيات الرقمية، كما يتميز بمجموعة فريدة من عروض الأداء والمعارض، بمشاركة 500 فنان من أكثر من 50 بلداً، فضلاً عن 16 عرضاً عالمياً للمرة الأولى، و12 إنتاجاً جديداً للمهرجان، و8 أعمال إنتاج عالمي مشتركة، إلى جانب 4 أعمال تكليف حصري، وجولة غنائية حول العالم.
مهرجان أبوظبي
تأسس مهرجان أبوظبي عام 2004 تحت رعاية سمو الشيخ عبد الله بن زايد آل نهيان، وزير الإعلام والثقافة آنذاك (وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي حالياً) وحظي المهرجان برعاية كريمة من صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، ولي عهد أبوظبي، نائب القائد الأعلى للقوات المسلحة، في الفترة من 2007 لغاية 2011.
