hosts Dubai’s first women’s kayak challenge
Paddle along to the Crystal Lagoon on Friday, 18 June
Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City, District One – part of the master development Meydan – will host Dubai’s first women’s kayak race this weekend, with participants navigating a 1.5 kilometre stretch of the development’s stunning Crystal Lagoon.
Organised by 9714 Sports, in association with the Dubai Sports Council, the event will take place at 6.30 am on Friday, 18 June. It is open to female kayakers of all abilities, providing they are aged 16 or above and fully vaccinated against Covid-19. There are separate events for doubles and singles, with kayaks provided.
The kayak challenge is also open to a limited number of public spectators, with all health and safety protocols in place.

District One’s dazzling Crystal Lagoon – the centrepiece of the community – spans seven kilometres and is flanked by a 14 km boardwalk. The kayak challenge is one of a host of socially distanced sports, health and fitness initiatives held at the community this year, with more to come during 2021 and beyond.

تنطلق المنافسة على طول البحيرة الكريستالية الجمعة، 18 يونيو
تستضيف مدينة محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، الحي الأول – أحد مشاريع التطوير العقاري الرئيسية التي تنفذها مجموعة ميدان – أول تحدي بقوارب الكاياك للسيدات بدبي نهاية عطلة الأسبوع الحالي، حيث سيقوم المشاركين بالتجديف على امتداد مسافة 1.5 كم في البحيرة الكريستالية ضمن المشروع.
وستقام الفعالية التي تنظمهاSports) 9714 (بالتعاون مع مجلس دبي الرياضي، يوم الجمعة 18 يونيو، في تمام الساعة 6:30 صباحاً وهي متاحة لجميع المشاركين من النساء ومن مختلف القدرات، بشرط أن يبلغن من العمر 16 عاماً وما فوق وحاصلين بالكامل على لقاح كوفيد-19، كما سيكون هنالك فعاليات أخرى منفصلة للأزواج والعزاب مع توفير قوارب الكاياك لهم.
ويشار إلى أن تحدي قوارب الكاياك متاح أيضاً لعدد محدود من المتفرجين مع تطبيق جميع البروتوكولات المتعلقة بالصحة والسلامة المعمول بها.
ويضم الحي الأول، بحيرة كريستالية فريدة من نوعها تعتبر القلب المتلألئ للمشروع، بطول 7 كم وممشى بطول 14 كم، ويعد تحدي قوارب الكاياك واحداً من بين مجموعة من المبادرات الرياضية والصحية واللياقة البدنية المتباعدة اجتماعياً والتي أقيمت في المشروع العام الجاري مع المزيد القادم منها خلال 2021 وما بعده.
