JEBEL ALI INTERNATIONAL SEAFARERS CENTRE SUPPORTS IMO’S CALL TO SAFEGUARD THE INTERESTS OF OVER 1.6 MILLION SEAFARERS
The Seafarers Centre has supported more than 20,000 seafarers since its re-launch
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 25 June 2021: On the occasion of Day of the Seafarer, DP World, UAE Region reaffirmed its support for the seafarer community through the Jebel Ali International Seafarers Centre, located in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza). The Jebel Ali International Seafarers Centre has been a breakout zone for crew members of vessels calling at the Jebel Ali Port and the crew of vessels at other ports in the UAE. Since the relaunch of the Jebel Ali Seafarers Centre in 2016, the entity has supported over 20,000 seafarers through various initiatives.
As part of its sustainability initiatives, DP World, UAE Region will be carrying out several activities including medical screening (vital signs, ophthalmology, dental, etc.) and distribution of food packs/meals and giveaways packs to support the seafarers. The smart trade enabler will also host awareness sessions on ocean protection topics.
The centre’s proximity to the Jebel Ali Port that is an essential trade link, connecting markets in North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia, has ensured a high footfall since its inception. As a vital contributor to the UAE’s economy, the port has over 80 weekly shipping services and a network of 150 ports worldwide.
The centre features a restaurant and a duty-free shop, a library, free Wifi, email facilities, indoor and outdoor games. Moreover, free transport to and from vessels to the centre is provided to all vessel crew and captain. On special occasions, every year celebratory events are held. To tend to the physical and mental upkeep of the crew, medical checkups and counselling services are also provided.

مركز البحَّارة قدم الدعم لأكثر من 20 ألف بحار منذ إعادة افتتاحه
بمناسبة «يوم البَحَّارة العالمي»، أكدت موانئ دبي العالمية – إقليم الإمارات، مواصلة دعمها لمجتمع البَحَّارة من خلال «مركز جبل علي الدولي للبحَّارة»، في المنطقة الحرة لجبل علي (جافزا)، والذي يُشكل منطقة استراحة لطواقم السفن التي ترسو في ميناء جبل علي، وفي الموانئ الأخرى في دولة الإمارات، ومنذ إعادة افتتاحه عام 2016، قدم المركز الدعم لأكثر من 20,000 بحَّار عبر العديد من المبادرات.
وفي إطار مبادراتها في مجال الاستدامة، تنظم موانئ دبي العالمية – إقليم الإمارات، عددًا من الأنشطة المتنوعة تتضمن فحوصات طبية (تشمل العلامات الحيوية، والعيون، والأسنان، وغيرها) وتوزيع وجبات طعام، وعلب هدايا. إضافة إلى ذلك، ستنظم موانئ دبي العالمية – إقليم الإمارات جلسات توعوية حول أهمية حماية البحار والمحيطات.
ساعد قرب “مركز جبل علي الدولي للبحَّارة” من ميناء جبل علي، الذي يعد رابطًا تجاريًا رئيسًا بين الأسواق في شمال أفريقيا ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط وجنوب آسيا، في زيادة عدد البحَّارة الذين يرتادونه يوميًا. حيث يلعب ميناء جبل علي دورًا حيويًا في تعزيز اقتصاد دولة الإمارات، حيث إنه البوابة الرئيسة لأكثر من 80 رحلة شحن أسبوعية، مع شبكة تمتد في 150 ميناءً حول العالم.
