Four weeks of entertainment and learning with 2021 ‘Our Summer is Culture & Creativity’ in Dubai Public Libraries

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) returns with a comprehensive version of its summer camp from 1 – 28 August 2021 under the theme ‘Our Summer is Culture & Creativity’ to inspire the imaginations of children and adults during the summer vacation through its creative camps across Dubai Public Libraries branches. The camp will take place in virtual and physical formats and will present the youth with a rich package of innovative activities that will put them on an exploratory journey in the fields of arts, literature, heritage, technology and entertainment.
Over the course of four weeks, the Public Libraries Department at Dubai Culture has prepared an entertaining and cultural atmosphere to enhance the knowledge of young people aged 3 – 18 and enhance their creative skills through a variety of specialised and innovative workshops, in addition to inspiring sessions and workshops distributed across Dubai Public Library branches in Al Rashidiya, Al Mankhool, Al Safa, Hor Al Anz, Umm Suqeim, Al Twar, and Hatta.
Dubai Culture has allocated a theme for each of the four weeks, where the first week from 1 – 7 August revolves around the arts, providing participants with various artistic workshops focusing on developing their artistic and creative skills. Participants will learn how to draw using different techniques as well as how to make dolls and expressive faces, in addition to exploring innovative art forms and coloured clay using recyclable materials available at home. They will also explore origami, design, planting seeds and several other meaningful and fun activities under the supervision of specialised cadres from the libraries.
The second week from August 8 – 14 revolves around literature and is filled with rich reading activities that will develop the art of storytelling accompanied by workshops. In addition, participants will learn the arts of Arabic calligraphy as well as how to make a digital story, enjoying silent film shows, creative writing, and other literature-related activities. The third week from 15 – 21 August revolves around the theme of ‘Heritage and Museums,’ which will take participants on a journey rich in Emirati heritage through popular games, traditional dishes, puzzles, heritage and cultural sites as well as interesting competitions, a virtual tour of Hatta, and knowledge of the different cultures around the world.
‘Our Summer is Culture & Creativity’ will conclude with ‘Various Programmes and Events’ from August 22 – 28, which will provide participants with an educational experience full of suspense, including in the fields of technology, designing digital games and space science, puppet theatre, film-making, preparing healthy dishes, drawing with threads, and other targeted activities.

تعود هيئة الثقافة والفنون في دبي “دبي للثقافة” بنسخة شاملة هذا العام من مخيمها الصيفي تحت شعار “صيفنا ثقافة وإبداع” لتلهب مخيلة الصغار والكبار في العطلة الصيفية عبر مخيماتها الإبداعية في المكتبات العامة التي ستكون أيضاً بنسختين، افتراضية وفعلية داخل المكتبات، وذلك من 1 إلى 28 أغسطس 2021، واعدةً إياهم بباقة غنية من الأنشطة المبتكرة التي ستنطلق بهم في رحلة استكشافية برحاب الفنون والأدب والتراث والتكنولوجيا والتسلية.
وعلى مدار 4 أسابيع أعدّت إدارة المكتبات العامة في “دبي للثقافة” أجواءً ترفيهية وثقافية تعزز معارف الصغار واليافعين من عمر 3 إلى 18 سنة وترتقي بمهاراتهم الإبداعية عبر طيف متنوع من الورش المتخصصة والمبتكرة، إضافةً إلى جلسات وورش عمل ملهمة موزعة على فروع مكتبات دبي العامة في الراشدية والمنخول والصفا وهور العنز وأم سقيم والطوار وحتا.
وخصصت “دبي للثقافة” محوراً لكل أسبوع من الأسابيع الأربعة، حيث يدور الأسبوع الأول من 1 إلى 7 أغسطس حول “الفنون”، وينتظر المشاركين فيه ورشات فنية متنوعة تركز على تطوير مهاراتهم الفنية والإبداعية ويتعلمون خلالها فنون الرسم بتقنيات مختلفة، وصنع الدمى والوجوه المعبرة والأشكال الفنية المبتكرة والصلصال الملون باستخدام مواد قابلة لإعادة التدوير ومتوفرة في المنزل، والأوريغامي، والتصميم، وزراعة البذور وغيرها الكثير من الأنشطة الهادفة والممتعة بإشراف كوادر متخصصة من المكتبات.
أما الأسبوع الثاني من 8 حتى 14 أغسطس، فيدور حول “الآداب” ويحفل بأنشطة قرائية ثرية تنمي لديهم فن سرد القصص وتصاحبها ورش عمل يدوية، إضافة إلى تعلُّم فنون الخط العربي، وصناعة قصة رقمية، والتمتع بعروض لأفلام صامتة، والكتابة الإبداعية، وغيرها من الأنشطة الأدبية المنتقاة بعناية. في حين يدور الأسبوع الثالث من 15 إلى 21 أغسطس حول محور “التراث والمتاحف” الذي سيأخذهم في رحلة غنية بالتراث الإماراتي من ألعاب شعبية وأطباق تقليدية وألغاز ومواقع تراثية وثقافية، فضلاً عن المسابقات الشيقة، وجولة افتراضية في ربوع حتا، والتعرُّف إلى ثقافات الشعوب حول العالم.
ويختتم “صيفنا ثقافة وإبداع” بأسبوع “البرامج والفعاليات المتنوعة” من 22 حتى 28 أغسطس الذي يتيح للمشاركين تجربة تعليمية زاخرة بالتشويق، من تكنولوجيا وتصميم ألعاب رقمية وعلوم الفضاء، مروراً بمسرح العرائس وصناعة الأفلام، وتحضير الأطباق الصحية، والرسم بالخيوط، وغيرها من الأنشطة الهادفة.
وقالت إيمان الحمادي، رئيسة قسم شؤون المكتبات بالإنابة في دبي للثقافة”: “تُعَدُّ الأنشطة الصيفية التي نقدمها في “صيفنا ثقافة وإبداع” جزءاً لا يتجزأ من استراتيجيتنا في دعم المواهب وإلهام الأجيال الصاعدة للإبداع والابتكار. وقد حرصنا في مخيمات هذا العام من “صيفنا ثقافة وإبداع” على توفير تجربة فريدة لجميع أفراد العائلة والمساهمة في جعل إجازتهم ممتعة ومفيدة في الوقت نفسه. وانطلاقاً من مسؤوليتنا في الارتقاء بثقافة ومعارف أجيال الغد في شتى المجالات، نطرح من خلال هذه المخيمات باقة متنوعة من البرامج الترفيهية والتثقيفية والإبداعية التي من شأنها أن تساعدنا أيضاً على اكتشاف المواهب والعمل على صقلها وتنميتها، وتنشئة جيل وثيق الصلة بالتراث الإماراتي الأصيل، وواعٍ لأهمية الحفاظ على بيئته، ومبدع ومبتكر، وبالتالي مؤهل بأدوات قيادة المستقبل”.
