Sharjah’s senior girl guides take the lead in training children
with learning difficulties at SGG’s summer camp

Graduates of SGG’s Young Mentor Programme successfully conducted
three hands-on art and crafts workshops held virtually during July

Four senior guides have done the Sharjah Girl Guides (SGG) proud, leading a 3-day virtual summer camp to empower students of the Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties as part of SGG’s July summer camp.

Senior guides Hoor Al Khayal, Maha Hussein and Alya Duaifes, along with Brownie Nour Al Khayal, who successfully completed SGG’s Young Mentor Programme last year, came together to teach basic art and craft skills to 10 students from the Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties, ensuring they gain confidence to make an impact in their communities.

The first workshop, titled Stitch for Fun, was conducted by Hoor Al Khayal and Noor Al Khayal who taught the participants various patterns and styles of stitching.

Senior Guide Maha Hussein took participants through the basic techniques of painting on glass in the workshop on Day 2.

The participants learnt fun ways of jazzing up their canvas bags with paint from Senior Guide Alya Duaifes on the final day of the summer camp on Day 3.

The success of the summer camp led by SGG’s young members reflected on the value of SGG’s programmes, which continue to successfully prove that the entity’s young members are empowered and engaged at a level that can be applied to have positive results on the global stage.

Held in 2020, SGG’s Young Mentor Programme was a 5-day course that initiated participating Senior Guides into the world of training and facilitating through imparting effective communication, active listening, effective body language, time management, organising and presenting, and public speaking skills. On completion, the participants had facilitated several workshops for Brownies as part of their training. This included a book mark workshop by Juwaher Al Mail, a ‘light and delicious’ workshop by Maha Hussein and a beads keychain workshop by Meera Al Hosani.

Operating under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), SGG aims to inspire and nurture future generations to become progressive citizens who can develop themselves and build a better world by providing the girls with a platform to develop to their fullest potential.

المخيم تضمن 3 ورش عمل افتراضية على مدى 3 أيام

شهد المخيم الصيفي الافتراضي الذي نظمته مفوضية مرشدات الشارقة” في شهر  يوليو الجاري، بمشاركة عدد من طلاب وطالبات “مركز الشارقة لصعوبات التعلم”، ثلاث ورش عمل قدمها أربع مرشدات متقدمات ممن تخرجن من “برنامج المرشدة الصغيرة” الذي نظمته المفوضية العام الماضي، حيث استهدفت الورش تدريب المشاركين على عدد من المهارات الفنية والحرفية التي تساعدهم على تعزيز ثقتهم بأنفسهم وقدرتهم على المشاركة بإحداث التغيير في مجتمعهم.

ودربت المرشدة حور الخيال والزهرة نور الخيال في الورشة الأولى، التي عقدت في 5 يوليو الجاري، الأطفال المشاركين على أساليب الخياطة ونماذجها المختلفة، في حين عرّفت المرشدة المتقدمة مها حسين في الورشة الثانية التي عقدت في 6 يوليو الجاري المشاركين بتقنيات الرسم على الزجاج، بينما قامت المرشدة المتقدمة علياء دعيفس بتعليم المشاركين كيفية تزيين حقائبهم في ورشة العمل الثالثة التي نظمت في اليوم الأخير من المخيم.

يشار إلى أن المفوضية نظمت “برنامج المرشدة الصغيرة” في عام 2020، على مدى خمسة أيام اصطحبت فيها المرشدات المتقدمات إلى عالم التدريب من خلال تعزيز مهارات التواصل الفعال، والاستماع التفاعلي، ولغة الجسد، وإدارة الوقت والتنظيم والعرض، والإلقاء والتحدث أمام الجمهور، وبعد إكمال البرنامج، نظمت المفوضية مجموعة من ورش العمل قدمتها المرشدات جواهر الميل، ومها حسين، وميرا الحوسني.

وتهدف “مفوضية مرشدات الشارقة” التي تحظى برعاية قرينة صاحب السمو حاكم الشارقة، سمو الشيخة جواهر بنت محمد القاسمي، رئيسة المجلس الأعلى لشؤون الأسرة في الشارقة، إلى رعاية أجيال المستقبل وتحفيزهم ومدهم بمصادر الإلهام كي يكونوا مواطنين قادرين على تنمية وتطوير وطنهم، والإسهام في تطوير وبناء العالم أجمع، وذلك من خلال توفير منصة للفتيات للمساهمة في إطلاق العنان لقدراتهن الكامنة وتطويرها.{:}
