SAUDI GRADUATES START PLACEMENT WITH MERCEDES-EQ FORMULA E TEAM THROUGH NEOM’S ‘GROW’ DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
- As part of NEOM’s partnership with the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team and ahead of the season finale at the Berlin E-Prix, two top-performing Saudi graduates will undertake a one-year placement program with the team
- The placement builds on NEOM’s wider GrOW (Graduate Opportunities in Work) program, by providing vital international experience with a leading organization in sustainable motorsport
NEOM has awarded placements with global sustainable motorsport team the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team, for two talented Saudi nationals from its GrOW program. This announcement is part of the wider pioneering partnership between the two organizations and comes ahead of the highly anticipated Berlin season final on 15th August, where the team looks to clinch the championship and team driver Nyck de Vries to defend his lead position in the Drivers’ World Championship, following his astounding back-to-back podiums achieved in the London E-Prix.
This placement is the first of several unparalleled opportunities at the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team’s UK offices, designed to offer a range of roles in the motorsport industry to high-calibre candidates who are part of NEOM’s GrOW program; an initiative designed to provide Saudi graduates with an opportunity to work alongside some of the world’s brightest minds at NEOM.
The program starts with two top-performing candidates from the pilot GrOW batch (2020), Ahmed Alhussain and Duaa Alzaher, and aims to build on the work experience they have obtained throughout their year at NEOM.
Ahmed is joining the placement at the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team in his chosen field of mechanical engineering, whilst Duaa will be joining the corporate IT department. Both placements will commence this August and are set to last 12 months, giving the graduates the chance to have a fully immersive experience with the racing team, taking key learnings back to their respective sectors at NEOM.

The GrOW program continues to bring in the top talent from across the Kingdom, with 70 graduates starting their journey in a fast-paced, world-class environment at NEOM this summer. These graduates will have the opportunity to bolster their on-the-job experience in parallel with their academic capital, while being a part of the journey of one of the world’s most ambitious projects.

في إطار شراكتها مع فريق مرسيدس إي كيو للفورمولا إي، أعلنت نيوم عن ابتعاثها لخريجين سعوديين من ضمن دفعة عام 2020 من برنامج نيوم GrOW لتطوير الخريجين، وذلك لتطوير مهاراتهم واكتساب الخبرة من خلال العمل مع الفريق في مقرهم في المملكة المتحدة. ويأتي هذا الإعلان قبيل خوض الفريق للسباق النهائي لهذا الموسم في برلين.
ويعد برنامج الابتعاث مع الفريق فرصة مميزة للتطوير المهني تقدمها نيوم لدعم الشباب السعودي عبر هذه الشراكة، حيث سيتاح عدد من الأدوار في عالم رياضة السيارات للمرشحين الأكثر كفاءة من برنامج GrOW الذي تنفذه نيوم لتطوير الخريجين وتأهيلهم للعمل إلى جوار نخبة من ألمع العقول من جميع أنحاء العالم في مشروع نيوم.
وسوف تكون بداية البرنامج العملي مع اثنين من الخريجين المتفوقين من دفعة 2020 لبرنامج GrOW، وهما أحمد الحسين ودعاء الزاهر، في مرحلة متقدمة تمثل امتداداً للتجربة العملية التي تحصلا عليها خلال عامهم التدريبي مع نيوم.
وينضم أحمد إلى البرنامج العملي المتقدم في مجال الهندسة الميكانيكية في المملكة المتحدة ، بينما تنضم دعاء إلى قسم تكنولوجيا المعلومات ابتداء من أغسطس الحالي ولمدة 12 شهرًا، مما يمنح الخريجين فرصة الحصول على تجربة متميزة مع فريق السباقات الشهير، والاستفادة من هذه التجربة في مجال عملهما بمشروع نيوم.
وعن هذه الخطوة، تقول جان باترسون، مديرة قطاع الرياضة في نيوم: “هناك العديد من الطموحات المشتركة والتي تشكل أساس شراكتنا مع فريق مرسيدس إي كيو للفورمولا إي، ولكن أحد المجالات الرئيسية التي كنا نطمح إليها مع بداية هذه العلاقة أن نتمكن من الاستفادة من فرص التطوير المهني المتاحة أمام شبابنا السعودي. وأضافت : “من ضمن رسالة نيوم الجوهرية أن نمثل إلهاماً لجيل جديد من المواهب السعودية، لذلك، يسعدنا أن نكون قادرين على توفير هذه الفرصة الرائعة لخريجي GrOW مع إحدى الكيانات الرائدة في العالم. وحتماً ستكون تجربة الحصول على وظيفة في مثل هذه البيئة عالية الأداء لا تقدر بثمن في مجال تطورهم الوظيفي”.
ومن جهته، أوضح إيان جيمس، مدير فريق مرسيدس إي كيو فورمولا إي أن الفريق يعمل في شراكته مع نيوم على تطبيق أفضل الوسائل والبرامج، التي يمكن من خلالها بناء قيم مشتركة، مما سيمكن نيوم وفريق مرسيدس من بناء مستقبل مستدام. ولتحقيق ذلك فإن الشريكين يتطلعان إلى تمكين الجيل المقبل من المواهب والطاقات وإلهامها. وقال جيمس : “يثمن فريق مرسيدس التحاق مبتعثي نيوم للتدريب الخارجي بفريق مرسيدس إي كيو للفورمولا إي، حيث العمل مستمر لمنح هؤلاء الخريجين تجربة قيّمة، وكذلك الاستفادة من المعرفة والأفكار التي سيقدمونها جنبا إلى جنب مع زملائهم في الفريق”.
ويواصل برنامج تطوير الخريجين (GrOW) من نيوم إتاحة الفرصة أمام الخريجين والخريجات في المملكة العربية السعودية، بغية الوصول لأمهر الكفاءات المتاحة في سوق العمل ومن ثم الانضمام إلى فريق العمل الرائد بمشروع نيوم. وشهد البرنامج التحاق 70 خريجاً وخريجة هذا العام، في بداية رحلة مهنية تتميز بسرعة إيقاعها والعمل في بيئة عالمية المستوى، حيث تعتبر فرصة فريدة لهذه الكفاءات حتى تنهض بدورها في إنجاز هذا المشروع العملاق، وتطبيق مهاراتها الأكاديمية في نطاق عملي احترافي واسع النطاق.
