 DUBAI, 19 November 2021 – The Kuwaiti Music Band Concert, held at Expo 2020’s Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre, showcased Kuwait’s past and present, via a unique set-list of folk and 20^th-century songs.

Renowned maestro Dr Bassam Al-Baloushi led the eight other band members through classical songs from Kuwait, as well as popular hits from the 1990s.

Dr Bassam Al-Baloushi said: “Today, at the Expo, I represent my country, and therefore I must present traditional classical music and popular Kuwaiti songs. Kuwait was a pioneer for music in the Gulf. Many prominent Arab artists used to sing in Kuwait, such as Umm Kulthum, Farid al-Atrash and Abdel Halim Hafez, because the history of music in Kuwait dates back 60 to 70 years.”

He added that the band was excited to showcase Kuwait’s rich culture and history to a global audience through their performance and incredibly impressed by the UAE hosting the first World Expo in the Middle East.

Dr Al-Baloushi said: “We are very happy to participate in Expo 2020 Dubai, which is more than wonderful and is beyond description, both in terms of organisation, impressive pavilion designs, and special events and programmes.”

The Kuwaiti Music Band held a second performance at the Kuwait Pavilion after their concert on the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre stage.

The Kuwait Pavilion, in the Sustainability District, presents an architectural feature inspired by the country’s vision for sustainability, as well as gives visitors a dynamic experience that allows them to be a part of the exhibition.

{:}{:ar}دبي، 20 نوفمبر 2021 – حظي جمهور إكسبو 2020 دبي يوم الجمعة بحفل فلكلوري للفرقة الموسيقية الكويتية بقيادة المايسترو الشهير بسام البلوشي، نظمه الجناح الكويتي في موقع الحدث الدولي.

قدمت الفرقة مجموعة مختارة من الأغنيات التقليدية من التراث الكويتي، وذلك على مسرح دبي ميلينيوم، حيث كان زوّار إكسبو 2020 دبي على موعد مع الألحان والإيقاعات الخليجية المميزة عبر مجموعة من الأغاني الشعبية الكويتية، من بينها “يا أهل الشرق”، و “يا هلي”، و”دنيا الوله”، “وحق الإبعاد”، و”طاير من الفرحة طاير”.

وقال المايسترو بسام البلوشي، قائد الفرقة وعازف آلة القانون: ” اليوم في إكسبو  2020 أمثل بلدي الكويت من خلال تقديم الأغنيات الكلاسيكية الكويتية، حيث قدمنا في حفل اليوم أغاني شعبية كويتية من التراث الكويتي، وأغنيات حديثة من فترة التسعينات، تمثل الأغنية الكويتية قديما واليوم”.

وأضاف: “نحن سعيدون جدا بالمشاركة في إكسبو 2020 دبي، الحدث الرائع جدا، والذي يفوق الوصف في كل شيء، سواء من حيث التنظيم والتصاميم المبهرة لأجنحة الدول المشاركة، والفعاليات والبرامج المميزة؛ ونحن مهتمون جدا بالمشاركة في هذا الحدث العظيم الذي يشكل إضافة لنا كفنانين كويتيين، كما أنه فرصة مهمة لنشارك أشقاءنا في دولة الإمارات موسيقانا وأغانينا الكويتية، بهدف نشر التراث الكويتي”.

وأكد البلوشي أن الموسيقى الكويتية سبّاقة من حيث الظهور في منطقة الخليج، حيث إن كثيرا من الفنانين العرب البارزين غنوا في الكويت مثل كوكب الشرق أم كثلوم وفريد الأطرش، عبد الحليم حافظ، فايز أحمد، وغيرهم.{:}
