DUBAI, 21 November 2021 – Oman’s Expo 2020 National Day celebrations took place today in the presence of His Highness Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs for the Sultanate of Oman, Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan.
A 50-member Royal Guard marching band performed, while an Omani ship, Shabab Oman II, docked in Dubai Harbour for the festivities.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai, accompanied by Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai, welcomed His Highness Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said and His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Oman and Head of The General Commission for the Sultanate’s Pavilion at Expo 2020.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan, said: “In every participation, in World and Specialised Expos, the Pavilion of the Sultanate of Oman clearly stands out, with its exhibits and goals sending the powerful message of the Sultanate to the world.”
“The fine design of the Sultanate’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, with its expressive façade, draws inspiration from the canopy of the frankincense tree – an emblem and symbol of heritage which we all cherish for its significance to the Arab region.”
Delivering an inspiring speech on behalf of His Highness Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said, His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef praised the brotherly relations between the leader and people of Oman and the UAE, and reiterated the importance of fulfilling the purpose of the mega-event: “Expo 2020 Dubai epitomises the concept of collaboration and communication between nations and peoples for a better life for all, for generations to come. With the aim of embodying Expo 2020’s theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ and the important subtheme of Opportunity, we announce today that we will be granting scholarships to students, who will be chosen from visitors to the Oman Pavilion who hail from brotherly and friendly nations.”
University students onboard the Shabab Oman II set sail on 7 November to mark Oman’s 51st National Day, and the vessel visited ports in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar en route to the UAE.
The Omani Youth Ship helps to encourage dialogue and communication, to spread a message of harmony and friendship, especially among young people. The vessel, through its engagement with students, is seen as a reflection of Expo 2020’s theme of Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, and its subthemes of Opportunity, Sustainability, and Mobility.
Additional celebrations for Oman National Day included music and cultural entertainment at Al Wasl Plaza. A forum also introduced business leaders and investors from around the world to the Sultanate’s numerous and diverse investment opportunities as well as its development plans in construction, industry, transport, aviation, and free zones – sectors that are experiencing continued growth.
Located in the Mobility District, the Oman Pavilion pays tribute to its ‘gift’ to the world: frankincense. The structure resembles the tree that produces the precious resin, while the interior has five zones detailing how frankincense has benefitted the country, including its uses in medicine, food, and cosmetics. The pavilion is both mystical and futuristic, taking visitors on a journey connecting people and minds across time and place.
National and Honour Days at Expo 2020 Dubai are moments to celebrate each of our 200-plus International Participants, shining a light on their culture and achievements and showcasing their pavilions and programming. Each features a flag-raising ceremony at the Stage of Nations in Al Wasl Plaza, followed by speeches and cultural performances.
Running until 31 March 2022, Expo 2020 has invited visitors from across the planet to join the making of a new world in a six-month celebration of human creativity, innovation, progress and culture.

دبي، 21 نوفمبر 2021 – احتفلت سلطنة عمان اليوم الأحد بيومها الوطني في إكسبو 2020 دبي، بحضور صاحب السمو السيد أسعد بن طارق آل سعـيد، نائب رئيس الوزراء لشؤون العلاقات والتعاون الدولي، والممثل الخاص لجلالة سلطان عمان.
ورحب معالي الشيخ نهيان بن مبارك آل نهيان، وزير التسامح والتعايش والمفوض العام لإكسبو 2020 دبي، بصاحب السمو السيد أسعد بن طارق آل سعـيد، وبمعالي قيس بن محمد اليوسف، وزير التجارة والصناعة وترويج الاستثمار في السلطنة والوفد المرافق، وذلك بحضور معالي ريم الهاشمي، وزيرة الدولة لشؤون التعاون الدولي المدير العام لمكتب إكسبو 2020 دبي.
وقال معالي الشيخ نهيان بن مبارك: “في كل مشاركة بالمعارض العالمية والمتخصصة، يبرز جناح سلطنة عمان بوضوح من خلال ما يعرضه، وأهدافه التي تبرز رسالة السلطنة إلى العالم“.
وأَضاف معاليه: “لقد رأينا جميعاً تصميم جناح سلطنة عُمان الراقي بواجهته المعبرة، التي اتخذت من مظلة شجرة اللبان، شعاراً ورمزاً تراثياً نعتز به جميعاً، لما تحمله من دلالة وأهمية في المنطقة العربية”.
وألقى معالي قيس بن محمد اليوسف خطابا ملهما، ثمن فيه العلاقات الأخوية بين قيادتي وشعبي البلدين الشقيقين، والنجاح المبهر الذي يحققه إكسبو 2020 دبي، وأهمية تحقيق شعاره الرئيسي “تواصل العقول وصُنع المستقبل”.
وقال معالي قيس بن محمد: “إكسبو 2020 دبي مناسبة هامة تجسد التعاون والتواصل الحضاري والإنساني بين الأمم والشعوب من أجل حياة أفضل لنا جميعا وللأجيال القادمة بإذن الله، وبهدف تجسيد شعار تواصل العقول وصُنع المستقبل وأهم المواضيع الفرعية، وهي الفرص. نعلن اليوم عن تقديم منح دراسية لطلاب من الدول الشقيقة والصديقة سيتم اختيارهم من زوار جناح عمان في إكسبو 2020 دبي”.
وشمل الاحتفال العديد من الفعاليات المميزة، أبرزها وصول السفينة العمانية إلى مرسى دبي، ومسيرة 50 عضوا من الحرس الملكي، ومؤتمر اقتصادي عرّف رجال الأعمال والمستثمرين من أنحاء العالم إلى الفرص الاستثمارية الضخمة التي توفرها السلطنة، وخططها التنموية في العديد من القطاعات الإنشائية والصناعية والنقل والطيران والمناطق الحرة، التي تشهد نموا متواصلا.
يقع جناح سلطنة عُمان في منطقة التنقل؛ وهو من الأجنحة المميزة في تصميمه المستوحى من إحدى أيقونات الطبيعة، وهي شجرة اللبان. ويجسد الجناح أصالة التراث العماني ويوضح في أقسامه الخمسة دورة حياة شجرة اللبان.
تمثل الأيام الوطنية والفخرية في إكسبو 2020 دبي مناسبات للاحتفال بكل من المشاركين الدوليين، الذين يزيد عددهم على 200 مشارك، وتسليط الضوء على ثقافاتهم وإنجازاتهم وعرض أجنحتهم وبرامجهم. وتتميز كل منها بمراسم رفع العلم على منصة الأمم في ساحة الوصل، فيما تلي ذلك عروض ثقافية وإلقاء كلمات.
تستمر فعاليات إكسبو 2020 دبي حتى 31 مارس 2022؛ ويدعو الحدث الدولي الزوار من جميع أنحاء كوكب الأرض إلى المشاركة في صُنع عالم جديد، في احتفال بإبداع البشر وابتكاراتهم وتقدمهم وثقافاتهم ممتد على مدار ستة شهور.
