DUBAI, 22 November 2021 – After a meeting with His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, at Expo 2020 Dubai on Monday,
Bruno Le Maire, France’s Minister of Economy and Finance said he is thrilled by the potential of the UAE and France to work more closely together on business, commerce and fighting climate change.
In particular, Le Maire hoped French companies would be involved in the UAE’s sustainable development
“The UAE is deeply engaged in the fight against climate change, and plans to reach net zero by 2050 – one of the first countries to make that kind of commitment. During my visit, I proposed to the Emirati authorities to enter into a very deep cooperation with us on renewable energies, such as hydrogen.
“We have world-class companies in this field, such as Air Liquide. So we have the technologies, we have the determination – let’s work together. I really think that this cooperation between our two countries on sustainable development will be very fruitful for us both.”
The French minister also praised the UAE’s organisation of Expo, and congratulated the country on the recent announcement that it will host the COP28 climate conference in 2023.
He added: “The Expo has been a great success for the UAE, and the French Pavilion is the best way of presenting our own success. It’s the French savoir-faire – the know-how, the determination – to access new technologies and build the future.
“And COP28 is a clear recognition of the commitment of the UAE in the fight against climate change. We’re willing to work very closely with the UAE to prepare for this event. The UAE can count on the full support of France.”
The meeting was also attended by Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy; and Younis Haji Al Khoori, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Finance.
{:}{:ar}دبي، 22 نوفمبر 2021- أكد معالي برونو لومير، وزير الاقتصاد والمالية الفرنسي أنه سعيد بالتعاون القائم بين الإمارات وفرنسا للعمل معاً بشكل وثيق في مجالات الأعمال والتجارة ومكافحة تغير المناخ.
جاء ذلك خلال استقبال سمو الشيخ مكتوم بن محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب حاكم دبي، نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير المالية، صباح اليوم معالي برونو لومير، وزير الاقتصاد والمالية الفرنسي في مبنى القادة بمقر إكسبو 2020 دبي.
وقال معالي برينو لومير، في تصريحات صحفية، إن الانطلاقة المتميزة لإكسبو 2020 دبي هي نجاح كبير لدولة الإمارات وقيادتها ولمدينة دبي، مؤكداً أن الإمارات أثبتت قدرتها على تنظيم إكسبو 2020 بدءا من رؤيتها الخاصة بالموضوعات مرورا بالعدد الكبير للدول المشاركة والتنظيم وصولا إلى تطوير البنية التحتية وخطط ما بعد انتهاء الحدث العالمي.
وأضاف: “جناحنا يحتل المرتبة الثالثة في عدد الزيارات في إكسبو والزوار من الجنسية الفرنسية يحتلون المرتبة الثالثة أيضا على صعيد عدد الزيارات إلى هذا الحدث الدولي.. وهذا دليل كبير على متانة العلاقات المتميزة التي تجمع فرنسا مع دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة ودليل أيضا على متانة العلاقات التي تجمع الشعبين الصديقين”.
وحول ما يعرضه جناح فرنسا، قال لومير: “من خلال جناحنا في إكسبو نسعى إلى إيصال رسالة مهمة لزوار الجناح وزوار المعرض تتعلق بجهودنا في مواجهة التغيرات المناخية.. لابد أن نعمل من أجل تغيير استراتيجيتنا في مجال الطاقة وأن نبحث عن مصادر جديدة لها”.{:}
