DUBAI, 28 November 2021 – TwoShields Production Company, a Native American Indian performers group from Salt Lake City, Utah, are bringing a taste of Native American life and traditions to Expo 2020’s Al Forsan Park.
Adorned in feathered and beaded costumes, and colourful patterned boots, TwoShields today gave audiences from across the globe an insight into the United States’ indigenous culture with American Indian dance, flute music, and hoop dance, a form of storytelling.
Fronted by the group’s charismatic founder, Nino Reyos, an enrolled member of the Pueblo Tribe and a Native American Music Award Nominee, Reyos engaged the audience with the meaning behind – and the impetus for –each dance. With 574 Native American tribes living across North America, all with different languages, there are numerous categories when it comes to cultural dances, including the ‘Healing Dance’, the ‘Chicken Dance’ and the ‘Fancy Dance.’
Nino Reyos explained that the ‘Fancy’ category was introduced in the 1960s as a new dance for females, with a solo dancer performing what Reyos describes as a “fashion dance, with fancy footwork to match.”
The unifying link in all the dances, across all categories, is that they were all conceived in the dreams of their grandfathers and great grandfathers, and that all the performers – and performances – hold the utmost respect not only for their fellow human beings, but also for all animal and plant life.
Culminating in a performance by Reyos himself of the ‘Eagle Dance’, the tribesman described the feathers of these majestic birds as deeply sacred. “They send us a message from high above the land,” he said.
Today’s message was one of gratitude. “Expo 2020 Dubai is providing the opportunity for us all to slowly rejoin with each other once more to enjoy ourselves and to renew friendships. We all have a lot to be thankful for.”
TwoShields will perform at Al Forsan Park again at 1500 GST on 29 November, 1400 GST on 30 November and 1500 GST on 1 December.

دبي، 28 نوفمبر 2021، استضافت حديقة الفرسان في إكسبو 2020 دبي، اليوم، عرضا مميزا مستلهم من روح وتقاليد السكان الأصليون في أمريكا، قدمته فرقة “تو شيلدز برودكشن كومباني”، القادمة من سولت ليك سيتي بولاية يوتاه، والتي ينحدر أعضاؤها من سلالة السكان الأصليين من الهنود- الأمريكيين.
وقدم فنانو الفرقة عروضهم المعتمدة على الرقص الدائري، والذي يعد شكلا من أشكال سرد القصص، وبالأزياء المزركشة والملونة والمزينة بالريش، التي يتميز بها هذا النوع من الفن التقليدي الهندي- الأمريكي، وذلك على إيقاعات موسيقى الفلوت.
وتحدث نينو ريوس، وهو عضو مسجل في قبيلة بويبلو، ومرشح للحصول على جائزة الموسيقى الأمريكية الأصلية، مع الجمهور، عن المعنى الكامن وراء كل رقصة تم تقديمها خلال العرض، حيث تعلقت معظم اللوحات الفنية المقدمة خلاله بالرقصات الثقافية، ومنها “رقصة الشفاء” و “ورقصة الدجاجة” و”الرقصة الفاخرة”، وغيرها من الرقصات المميزة.
وقال ريوس أن فئة “الرقصة الفاخرة” تم تقديمها في الستينيات كرقصة جديدة للإناث، حيث تؤدي راقصة منفردة ما وصفه بأنه “رقصة أزياء “مع حركة قدم رائعة تتناسب معها.
كما قال أن جميع الرقصات، التي قدمت، ترتبط بأحلام تم تصورها من قبل أجداد السكان الأصليون بل وأجداد أجدادهم، وأن جميع أعضاء الفرقة والعروض المقدمة، يتمتعون بأقصى درجات الاحترام ليس فقط لإخوانهم من البشر، ولكن أيضا لجميع أنواع الحياة الحيوانية والنباتية.
وقام ريوس بنفسه لأداء “رقصة النسر”، ووصف رجل القبيلة ريش هذه الطيور المهيبة بأنها مقدسة للغاية، وقال: “لقد أرسلوا لنا رسالة من أعلى الأرض”، وأكد أن إكسبو بمثابة فرصة جديدة للحياة والخروج للاستمتاع، ولتكوين الصداقات الجديدة.{:}
