DUBAI, 1 December 2021 – Underscoring the importance of leaving no one behind, Expo 2020 Dubai will mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December with a flagship event located at the Nexus for People and Planet venue, exploring issues such as inclusive accessibility, education, decent work, innovation and technology, and sport.
Co-curated with the UAE Ministry of Community Development and in partnership with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the ‘Shaping an Inclusive Future for All’ specialist event will feature talks by leaders in government and business, artists and athletes, to demonstrate the achievements of people of determination and showcase the ways individuals and organisations can work together to achieve inclusion.
Dina Storey, Head of Sustainability Operations at Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “In line with inclusion being one of the UAE’s key values, the team behind Expo 2020 is diverse, inclusive and dedicated to the task of delivering an exceptional Expo for all to the world, with people of determination playing an important role in the event’s lead-up and delivery. Expo 2020 is proud to be hosting this event marking International Day of Persons with Disabilities and looks forward to sharing its outcomes with the world.”
Speakers at the event include Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development; Maria-Francesca Spatolisano, Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination and Inter-Agency Affairs, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs; Vladimir Cuk, Executive Director of The International Disability Alliance; Daniela Bas, Director of the Division for Inclusive Social Development, UN DESA and Dr. Victor Pineda, Founder and President, The Victor Pineda Foundation.
The multi-format event will include lightning talks and moderated panels where participants will share success stories of bold approaches, partnerships and ecosystems that foster innovation and accelerate change by and for people of determination. Topics range from how to create a more accessible world for persons with disabilities to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Disability is referenced across the SDGs, specifically in the areas of education, growth and employment, inequality, accessibility of human settlements and data collection.
To coincide with International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Dubai-based talent academy Rising Stars, which helps disabled children develop their skills, will stage another unmissable performance on 3 December at the Opportunity Forum. The group lit up the stage in November, when their heart-warming show during Tolerance and Inclusivity Week fuelled big cheers and standing ovations from a visibly moved audience. The week also brought together participants to focus on solutions to challenges faced by people of determination, including the use of digital services and innovations to access new markets and opportunities.
Expo 2020 Dubai is committed to creating opportunities for people of determination. Playing an active role in shaping the entire Expo experience, people of determination are among Expo 2020 volunteers and employees, while the entire site has been designed to be accessible for all, ensuring everyone is part of a global experience that celebrates the diversity of our world and encourages an inclusive future for humanity.

دبي، 1 ديسمبر 2021: تأكيداً على أهمية عدم ترك أحد خلف الركب، سيحتفي إكسبو 2020 دبي، بأصحاب الهمم في 3 ديسمبر، وذلك بالتزامن مع انعقاد “اليوم الدولي للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة”، بفعالية رئيسة ستُقام في جناح نيكزس الإنسان وكوكب الأرض، لبحث عدد من القضايا مثل ضمان الوصول الشامل، والتعليم، والعمل اللائق، والابتكار والتقنية، والرياضة للأشخاص من أصحاب الهمم.
وتنطلق الفعالية المتخصّصة تحت عنوان “صياغة مستقبل شامل للجميع”، بالتنسيق مع وزارة تنمية المجتمع في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وبالشراكة مع إدارة الأمم المتحدة للشؤون الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، وسوف تشهد محادثات يُلقيها قادة من الحكومات وقطاع الأعمال وفنانون ورياضيون، بهدف تسليط الضوء على إنجازات أصحاب الهمم، وإبراز سُبُل التعاون المشترك بين الأفراد والمنظمات لتحقيق الشمولية.
ويشمل المتحدثون في الفعالية معالي حصّة بنت عيسى بوحميد، وزيرة تنمية المجتمع؛ وماريا-فرانشيسكا سباتوليسانو، الأمينة العامة المساعدة لتنسيق السياسات والشؤون المشتركة بين الوكالات في إدارة الشؤون الاقتصادية والاجتماعية؛ وفلاديمير كوك، المدير التنفيذي للتحالف الدولي للإعاقة، ودانييلا باز، مدير قطاع التنمية الشاملة في إدارة الأمم المتحدة للشؤون الاجتماعية والاقتصادية، والدكتور فيكتور بينيدا، مؤسس ورئيس مؤسسة فيكتور بينيدا.
وقالت دينا ستوري، مديرة إدارة عمليات الاستدامة في إكسبو 2020 دبي: “تماشيا مع الشمولية باعتبارها إحدى القيم الرئيسية التي تقوم عليها دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، فإن فريق عمل إكسبو 2020 متنوع وشامل ومكرّس لمهمة تقديم إكسبو استثنائي للعالم أجمع، حيث ساهم أصحاب الهمم بدور مهم في المرحلة التحضيرية لانعقاد إكسبو وأثناء انعقاده، ويفخر إكسبو 2020 دبي، باستضافة هذه الفعالية بمناسبة اليوم الدولي للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة، ويتطلع لمشاركة مخرجاته مع العالم”.
ستشمل الفعالية متعددة المحاور محادثات سريعة، وحلقات نقاشية، يتبادل خلالها المشاركون أبرز قصص النجاح والتميز، المعتمدة على نُهج جسورة، والمرتكزة على مبدأ الشراكة وعلى النظم البيئية التي تعزز الابتكار وتسهم في تسريع وتيرة التغيير التي يديرها أصحاب الهمم، لأجلهم ولصالح غيرهم من الأشخاص من ذوي الاحتياجات المختلفة، وستتراوح الموضوعات التي ستتم مناقشتها بين كيفية إنشاء عالم يسهل الوصول إليه للأشخاص من أصحاب الهمم إلى سبل تنفيذ أهداف التنمية المستدامة.
يأتي الإعلان على ذكر الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة صراحة، ضمن مقاصد أهداف التنمية المستدامة، وتحديدا في المجالات المتعلقة بالتعليم والنمو الاقتصادي وتشغيل العمالة وعدم المساواة وإمكانية الوصول إلى المستوطنات البشرية وجمع البيانات.
وبالتزامن مع اليوم المخصص للاحتفال باليوم الدولي للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة، تعتزم أكاديمية المواهب للنجوم الصاعدة «رايزنغ ستارز»، التي تتخذ من دبي مقرا لها، والتي تساعد الأطفال من أصحاب الهمم على تطوير مهاراتهم، تقديم عرض آخر لا يجب أن يُفوت بتاريخ 3 ديسمبر في منتدى الفرص.
وكانت الفرقة التابعة للأكاديمية، قد سبق وأشعلت المسرح بأدائها في شهر نوفمبر، حيث تعالت الهتافات أمام عرضهم المثلج للصدر الذي قدموه خلال أسبوع التسامح والتعايش في إكسبو 2020 دبي، والذي لاقى ترحيبا حارا من الجمهور الذي كان متأثرا بشكل واضح. كذلك جمع الأسبوع المشاركين على صعيد واحد بُغية التركيز على إيجاد الحلول للتصدي للتحديات التي يواجهها أصحاب الهمم، بما في ذلك النظر في كيفية توظيف الخدمات والابتكارات الرقمية في سبيل تمكينهم للوصول إلى أسواق وفرص جديدة.
يلتزم إكسبو 2020 دبي بإتاحة الفرص لأصحاب الهمم، حيث يلعبون دورا فاعلا في صياغة المشهد الكامل لتجربة إكسبو 2020، ويُعتبرون جزءا لا يتجزأ من متطوعي إكسبو 2020 وموظفيه، هذا وقد صُمم موقع الحدث الدولي بأكمله بطريقة تؤمن إمكانية الوصول لجميع مرافقه، للزوار من أصحاب الهمم وغيرهم، لضمان أن يكونوا جزءا من تجربة دولية تحتفي بالتنوع الذي يزخر به عالمنا، ويشجع على تحقيق مستقبل شامل للبشرية.{:}
