Ukrainian Akhawat (Ukrainian sisterhood) is a community of Ukrainian Muslim women in the UAE and the first Ukrainian Muslim community established outside Ukraine. Founded in late 2022, it is the only Ukrainian organization in the UAE that prioritizes Islamic values while preserving Ukrainian cultural identity.
Since its establishment, the community has brought together more than 130 members and organized around 40 cultural and educational events, including the first Ukrainian iftar in the UAE, which gathered approximately 70 guests.
The key areas of the community’s activities include:
• support for newly converted sisters (moral, legal, and, where necessary, financial assistance);
• promotion of Ukrainian culture within the framework of Islamic values in the UAE, including participation in local cultural events;
• providing information about Islam to Ukrainians, including through the publication and free distribution of Islamic literature in Ukrainian, as well as organizing educational activities and visits to Islamic centers and museums.
During the meeting, on behalf of the community, copies of the Ukrainian translation of the meanings of the Quran were presented, along with the books Discover Islam, The Life of the Prophet Muhammad, and children’s Islamic literature.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss possible avenues for future cooperation.
